This Jamo looks very interesting: not too wide baffle with 2 x 15" by side. They are crossed at 250 Hz and 2000 kHz. I think that the 15" are JAMO design (made by who?). The best alternative I was able to find was the BD15 bass driver (www.bd-design.nl).
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Very nice but a little pricey (1600-1700 € for two pairs!).
I want to know if they are other alternative to such drivers: good sensitivity, light membrane,... Beyma perhaps? Or the future Peerless SLS 400 SWR (830867) ?

Try something from Ciare. Their 15.75Ndw2 for example has extremely low Rms, high Qms of just over 20!!! and high Cms. Look like hi-fi parametres in a PA driver
. I have just ordered four 15.75Ndw1's.

cyclo said:Curious, it seems (for me) that the frame (and magnet?) of the Perless is different. But the price is very attactive. I hope that the frame will not be just a stamped piece of steel.

You can count on it having a pressed steel basket which is no major problem IMO.
To me it sure looks like it indeed is a peerless SLS 400 woofer

See the following link where in I speculate how the filtering is done to overcome the dipole drop. The series coil technique was originally used on the DALI skyline 2000 (and skyline 1000) dipole speakers as I recall it, where they used a high sensitivity cervin vega 15" respectively 12" woofer in a dipole configuration.

where did you ordered the Ciare?
Christophe
German distributor but you could also contact the french distributor: nsdistributino@wanadoo.fr
Hi,
The Peerless Qts is way to low to make any sense
in a passive OB speaker like the Jamo R909.
They will be very high Vas, low Mms, low Fs,
drivers BUT with a highish Q that tempers
sensistivity but means lots of excursion.
You can guarantee any high quality driver
designed for boxes won't work well in a OB.
Bizzarely cheap big drivers can suit OB's well.
The Jamo drivers are bespoke versions, not
a chance they will ever be sold for DIY use.
rgds, sreten.
