150 Hz, I plan on using the active crossover/line stage with the Nelson Pass SLOB I'm building. The 6-24 active crossover has so many adjustments, it will keep me busy for months finding the best sound.
The slob certainly makes sense over a complex stalitte in an attempt to get bass, and then not using it because t does not do bass.

To add to that, it seems the most successful typical Lowther drivers is either a WAW, most often OB, or a BIG horn, but in the real world all the drivers won’t fit optimally in all those horns.
I have, just recently, moved the PM6A and M6c out of that since they actially work in a miniOnken so might work in a standard reflex as well.

Sure is, but honest frequency response is missing. That one is certainly an aesthetic masterpiece.

I still hand around here, and still have most of the Lowther plans sitting on my computer. So if there is something you would like, let me know.
Which Tone Tubby? I have the original plans from Jan that show the passive series crossover, but, as far as I could tell, the referenced Tone Tubby is no longer available under the same model name.Might as well post my speakers. These are modestly sized OB's with PM6A's and a guitar speaker called a Tone Tubby serving as a woofer. It was designed by Jon Ver Halen when he was the US distributor for Lowther.
The one below looks like the same driver, but as I mentioned in another thread the efficiency is higher than I recall. So I'm not sure if it actually is the same driver. One of the advantages of the original design was that both drivers were 96dB efficient, so there was no needed for padding one of the drivers down. Maybe @Jon Ver Halen knows?Which Tone Tubby? It is the Tone Tubby Alnico Red that you want. As I recall the crossover was for 16 ohm Tone Tubby and 15 ohm Lowther. The 8 ohm versions can be substituted, you just have to double the capacity and half the inductor value.

If this is still relevant, back when I bought a pair of MarkAudio A12P here in Hong Kong, the reseller had a pair of Lowther TP1 corner horns playing. Well, this classic design was probably guessed or approximately calculated without full modelling as mentioned, but there was nothing sad about it. It delivered wonderful, room filling and balanced sounding music. If you have space for them and the required handiness for construction, I definitely recommend them.
The Lowther Academy plans look interesting. Any feedback from anyone on what they actually sound like..
I have unfortunately not heard them myself but FWIW read a review claiming that indeed the indirect speaker adds a spacious dimension to the sound. I have always thought that a variant optimised for a much more affordable pair of fostexes could be a cool project...The Lowther Academy plans look interesting. I'd like to see the plans and gauge the difficulty of building them.I have unfortunately not heard them myself but FWIW read a review claiming that indeed the indirect speaker adds a spacious dimension to the sound. This should give an idea. Lots of angles to cut. If it looks feasible then I recommend to order the official latest plans instead of using this one:I'd like to see the plans and gauge the difficulty of building them.

Wow, thankyou. Its all in the details, from that example, there's still a lot to work out for a layman like me. I will purchase the plans and hope they have individual cut details so all the angles are done correctly.
