In the case of my Dayton Audio ps180 I just started using them at normal volume. For about a month they sounded weird and honky at times and I wondered whether they were going to be for my taste. After a few weeks of daily listening, everything was fine. I did readjust the filling a couple of times and put in baffle step correction before I was happy with the bass/midrange balance. A couple of years on and they’ve matured quite well. I going to remove the BSC to see if still necessary.
Are you able to let them play quietly in free air before finishing your boxes? This will give you a little head start.
Mark usually suggests long and gentle break ins, starting at low volumes with no bass.
Some people don't believe it, but I'd rather not risk it and stick to Mark's recommendation
