Hi guys,
i have been planning on 2 way active biamped bookshelf speaker as gift for my frnd.I dont have any prior experience in active bi-amping or much of speaker building anyway . I did make a passive 2 way bookshelf speaker 2 yrs back and some massive subwoofers which has been very enjoyable.
I have chosen the following material
1.Mid range Driver
Nominal Impedance = 8 Ohms
Resonance Frequency = 49 Hz
Power Handling {IEC-268-5C} = 50 Watt
Sensitivity (2.83V/1m) = 90 dB
Resistance (DC) = 6 Ω
Qms5.24
Qes=0.38
Qts=0.35
BL=7.17 T-M
VAS =11.64 Liters
2. Tweeter
Nominal Impedance = 6 Ohms
Resonance Frequency = 950 Hz
Operating Range = 1,500 Hz to 20,000 Hz
Power Handling {IEC-268-5C} = 15 Watt
Sensitivity (2.83V/1m) = 94 dB
Voice Coil Diameter = 25 mm
Former Material = Aluminum
Layers = 2
Voice Coil Wire =TypeRoundCopper
Magnet Material = Neodymium
Dome Material = Silk
Surround Material = Silk
Front Plate Type =Moulded Plastic
3. Amplifier either of the following LM1875 or TPA3116
4. 12db 2 way crossover 2000hz
I modeled the speaker box in winisd and got a box volume of 9L with port dimension of 5cm X 19CM for tuning of 55hz at power levels of 20W the port noise is below 17
any suggestions ?
regards

Hi Sekhar !
Listen, the thing to keep in mind is that your crossover is not independent of the driver responses. You will need t measure the acoustic outputs, including acoustic offset, before determining the appropriate line level crossover.
Fortunately, Bill Waslo has just added some active crossover components to his excellent XSim crossover simulator. 🙂
