I just bought a monitor at a local swap meet that has a 25-pin monitor cable and I want to connect this to my standard 15-pin vga out on my computer or the dvi out. are there connectors that can do this? or do i have to make my own? thanks.

perhaps a MAC to VGA Converter is the solution ?
I don't know, i think so.

BTW: The IBM LCD's have got a 25 pin connector . A IBM to VGA converter is perhaps the solution too...

if you know exactly what you are doing you can chop it and use wire joiners (bits of lego with screws in them) to link them up again... only of course if you know exactly the right colors to use from a webguide and if you are sure the cable uses colors.
Your monitor might be (a) terminal.
R U sure that its VGA?
The cable adapter at the bottom shows RS 422/232 connections.
DB-9's and 25's are often used as for these serial data connections.
Who makes this monitor and what’s the model?

yikes, obscure data terminals ahead

From your posted data sheet I googled out the above links. Dedicated data terminals are seldom employed for network (telephone or data) monitoring these days. From a remote location, a terminal concentrator will allow numerous maintenance data ports to be accessed by way of desktop computers connected to the network.
Looks like you have part of a nice data terminal that wont be to much good for use with a PC or Mac.

i posted that data sheet from google hoping it might help but its not actually a sheet for the monitor. I dont think its a data terminal but im not so sure either, someone just told me that this monitor might have come from a big brokerage firm in NYC that uses specialized computers.....so im not sure. Id be willing to cut up the cable and make my own connector if i only knew what wires went to what.
Red herring?
So the schematic is a bit of a red herring?
Is it Plasmaco such as the Matsushita subsidiary?

remote tuner option
It seems that Plasmaco and others have used DB-25 connections to interface t remote tuner options. This is good news as the signal interfaces here should not be too difficult to locate or interface to. Is this what the back of your monitor looks like?

the back kinda looks like that i think, ill see if i can get a picture of the back up later. on a different note, i have compared the cable to a printer cable and they are physically identical. dunno if that helps any.
have a look around here they might have somthing, normally a 25 or 36 even a 52 pin cable goes to a controller board strait from the lcd but not always as in this case it might not, i did have some other info on the 25 conection cable but i got to find it, it tells u the red, green, blue and sync wire numbers and data ect, leave it with me ill try to find it but in the mean time have a look at this link it should pose u some help.

here is another that may be of some use but i doubt it, its good for a future refernce though, basically i think u will have to find a technical data sheet on your monitor and try to get either a schematic or a pinout on the cable, probally from there u will get somwhere but ill have a look around and see what i can find.
