If I can't get my 2 Kenwood KD 990/7010 decks to function, they are effectively the same, does anyone know a proven repair specialist in the EU preferably. I really don't want to entertain another D/D. They come with an excellent and easy to set up gimbal arm.
Is this a joke?Contact Kenwood to get an authorised service department in your area.

Thank you dreamth - I asked a specific question about Kenwood KD decks, not a general one.
dreamth - I changed all the electrolytics on the first deck making damn sure the polarity was correct and checked the resistors, all measured OK. On the second deck one function after another dropped out. Both decks quartz lock control has gone, this could simply be a power supply problem.
I know I have seen quite few of these KD decks on German Ebay that have been repaired and offered for sale.

Truth is very simple in this repair-restore bussiness: if it's said to be high quality it usually means way too costly. There's nothing special in any audio equipment no matter the price range .You just need a person with acceptably good electronics and a bit of mechanics knowledge and a willingness to solve your decks the right way.A passionate guy with a service manual is as good as an experienced fixer and often much cheaper.Someone who's attention to details is good can see more than an experienced guy just because he's amazed at things he never saw before. You're on a site with passionate people.Let's just fix it together! Put all the pictures you can with the internal guts of your equipment and you'll find here all the advice you need yo fix it yourself cause we are curious too to see it inside and working.
