IMHO it's mid-fi or low-fi, depending on the surface they're mounted to.

I've played around with audio transducers on various surfaces and, while I found the experience fun and the sound interesting, they don't trump boxed or open baffle speakers UNLESS you just don't want to look at speakers.

Although not about SolidDrive units, this thread has a bit of info on transducer application;
NXT.......rubbish??....THINK AGAIN! )

And besides, @$500 per unit (per channel!) is a bit stiff.
