hi, I'm new here but I've been doing a variety of projects for a while now, a while back I added a really nice radio head unit to my car (2003 honda accord) after swapping out the original radio unit for a double din AC control panel and taking up one of the two din slots with the new head unit.
I'm currently trying to get a hold of an after market cassette player add on and I'm getting close to getting a decent one, even comes with a "speaker selector switch" which for some reason are hard to find?
anyway my car has separate speaker channels, FL, FR, RL, RR, sub, and it's stock save for the speakers I recently added for FL and FR.
is there anything I should know about setting up a switch to toggle between the cassette player and the main radio head unit?
what would be the best way to go about this, I sorta like the idea of having a dash panel switch I can toggle but if there's a better way or any help knowledge links, whatever I should know, can get, that would be a huge help!
head unit: OMV Single Din In-Dash bluetooth + SD card + USB car radio/stereo unit with TFT screen.
RL RR Sub: stock speakers
FL FR: Pioneer TSA1676R 6-1/2" 3-Way Car Speakers
dash kit: METRA 99-7803G with radio wiring harness, (harness DIY spliced and soldered together with heat shrink to reduce any noise or interference.)

Switching all speakers will require switching 10 wires (2/speaker). Why not use an RF modulator for the cassette deck?
Why cassette? Many likely have pressure pads that have fallen off.

why cassette? well... it's more of a nostalgia thing and I've repaired a few before so it's not unfamiliar to me having one working.
I hadn't considered the RF modulator but... wouldn't that interfere with the radio since it uses a radio frequency that would otherwise be open?

In ye olden times the fancy way was a set of relays to switch the speakers.
These relays were powered by the remote output line from one of the two decks.
just make sure the combined draw of the relay coils is under 500ma.

so I managed another way, found a cassette radio head unit out of a car that was sitting as a pile of junk, and after cleaning and giving the mechanisms a once over managed to install it as a secondary using the RCA stereo output jacks on the back of it and plugging it into the AUX headphone in the front of the main unit.
works like a dream. 😀
thanks for the advice btw everybody, I did check into the RF modulator and the relay switch, just got lucky to find an easy way.
