Adding digital interface in class D amp

Hello everyone,

I am pretty much new in Class D amps and I am new on this forum as well. I have seen many interesting things here but I didn't find exactly what I wanted.

I have found some Class D amplifier kits from Sure Electronics but they are all with analog audio inputs. What I would like to do is to modify them to have digital inputs like spdif coaxial optical, aes/ebu... I want pure digital amplifier without converting to analog. Is there any way to do this and how would it be?
Here is the board I would like to modify... for example.
Sure Electronics' webstore 2 x 250Watt Class D Audio Amplifier Board - IRS2092

Best Regards.

Ok! You must add a DAC.

No. As there is no exposed digital (PCM) interface in this product.

The board is based on a IRS2092 which is a circuit that only has one input "In", described as: Analog inverting input.

There are almost no "pure digital amplifiers" on the market. The ones that claim this still go PCM (digi)->PWM (ana)->ClassD (ana).

Some like to call the "PWM (ana)" stage for "semi-digital" or even digital:

Hi, if I read correctly you want an FDA (Full Digital Amplifier). Just adding a digital interface to a class D amp won't work as other mechanisms are needed. You don't want a DAC as a DAC converts digital to analog, then you have to amplify analog signals again. I think you want to keep it in the digital domain till the power stage. Some call it PowerDACs, some have a technology they call DDX. There is unfortunately not a standard name for it although FDA seems to stick.

One of the cheapest complete and ready built devices is the FX Audio D802. There is a D802C but it is not as good. Has bluetooth which pollutes the device. The D Sound D310 is an example, the Topping VX2, the I. AM. D V200, Nuforce DDA-100, Nuforce DDA-120, QLS QA-100, Alientek D8 and many other solutions with STA326 chips.

If you want to partly DIY then look here:

Yes, I want FDA. I have considered D802C and thank You foe this info about bluetooth. Anyway, I need something more powerful and I like to modify. I am not sure now much I can modify this kind of amps (like D802) to achieve more power.

Which one would You suggest between cheaper ones? D802, Alientek D8, I.AM.D V200 or TAKAS A50? Its hard to decide as they are all similar.

Best Regards.
