What sort of comment are you looking for? Quality? Modifications?
I have a set of mission 760i in the house. First I used them, then lent them to my brother for several years and then they came back. Mine have always been pared with a rotel 930ax amp, and this was a good combo.
They are pretty sensitive, so while I dont think they will be mega loud, they still should be ok with 8w high current.
I have not listened to them in a while, but I liked them a lot. They were award winners of their day, Mission went on to replace them with the 731 which IMO was not as nice a sounding speaker. I was a hi fi salesman at the time and we were not pleased. Everyone suddenly wanted the Mordant Short MS10, and we didn't carry them! The tweeters on the 760i is a pretty good (for the price) soft dome tweeter.
I upgraded the cabling in mine with audioquest stuff some years ago. That was an easy mod and made them sound quite a bit better. I tried monster cable and a thin single strand one whose name i cant remember before settling on the audioquest.
The front baffle on them is plastic of some sort, (they may have called it medite, my memory is hazy). I funnily enough had mine apart just two nights ago. I am thinking of gifting them to my gf, and was going to mod them a bit first. I reckon that the speaker would do really well with a bit of damping. I was thinking of adding filler to the front baffle to strengthen it, then applying sound deadening to the insides of the cabinate.
The crossover of course is pretty cheap, but you could convert easily to biwire for very little cost. Mission made a biwire version called the 760ise. My dad has a set of them that I sold him.
Like all bookshelfs they need stands really to get the best out of them. They work best sat near to a wall. 6-8ft apart no toe in. Though my brother had them sat on a desk working as computer speakers and they were pretty decent.
Oh yeah, be carefull removing the grills, the fasteners break pretty easy.
