Hi,
I am new to this forum and I am reaching out for some help. I recently acquired a really nice Aragon 4004 BUT I am having issues with the left channel. Every now and again the left channel distorts, I can remedy it by changing songs, making it louder and shutting down and powering back up.
This is only introduced when I added the amp into the mix. Prior to the Aragon I was using an Adcom which this issue was nonexistence.
I have read great things about this amp and that there are two versions, I have included a few photos hoping someone can shed some light on one what could be the problem with the left channel and two it seems the right channel was upgrade with different silver discs that says Aragon and Mondial.
Any help would be great.
Thanks Kevin

First off your distortion issue is most likely the speaker relay or connection around it. I've worked on a few of these and have seen bad relays, and some really bad solder on the speaker wire connecting them.
Secondly, that amp wasn't upgraded. It blew a channel. The transistors and resistors have been replaced.
Thirdly in the third picture, somebody has jumped the fuse holders with wire. This is f**king stupid, and a great way to cause serous damage to the amp in the event of a failure.

Hi Dan,
YES I saw that too (fuse jumped) and I agree I will be having it serviced at once! Thank you for your feedback.
I just glad someone responded I really like this amp and would like to make it whole again...

admire Aragon amps...
I would be *freaked out* by the wire jumpering of the fuses...
What is up with that?
Not trying to be snarky, or meant as criticism of you...
a genuine question and sense of concern...
I *mirror* the relay comment above... and I
pulled them out of my Hafler 500s and 600s,
due to variability, possible issues over time.
I am curious about dissimilar output devices,
wondering about the service history of the amp.
**I AM NOT suggesting or promoting
the relay removal in your case...

Thanks for posting ~excellent~ images, easy to see the amp.
The sand cast emitter resistors along with the *Mexico*
labled output devices, lends to the repairs made at one point.
Is that the channel with issue (I need to go back and reread post)

Just to be clear I did not do any work on this amp I bought it from a local high end audio place, they got it from a customer (Trade In) just before covid. I have been in contact with them and have been very cool. BUT after I show them this thread I am sure they will service it for me at no cost.
