As far as a 4.5" driver, is a tannoy autograph mini driver a good choice for £250?

My favourite sound is the hpd 385a but I'm looking for a pair of small drivers or small speakers.

I know they're 2 way but they come from a point source and I like fullranges and coaxial drivers best.

Will they remind me of the tannoy sound at low volume? Are they special sound wise or more of a collector's item for show?

Are there other drivers 4.5" or smaller that blow them out of the water for £250 (as far as the tannoy hpd385a or tannoy gold/silver/red sound?)

Are you aware that good 4.5" drivers are 2 quid and up here, the most expensive would be 15 or less.
250 is too much.

They have very little low end as you would expect but the do have that Tannoy sound. Look around for the plans for a cabinet that gets the most out of them. You might want to look for some used system 600 Tannoys. They will be cheaper and more full range. They are dual concentric as Tannoy calls them. Good sound can be had for less but not Tannoy sound that you want.

There is the Kartesian line of coax's
Those are meant to be played high-passed, as I read from the presentation.
They (at TLHP...) sell also the crossover boards, so the job is straightforward... Plug and play

For me Tannoy become good in their bigger coaxes, the smaller all need bass support. They do that in their Revolution XT series (which are quiet good for their price). But the real interesting models are the big vintage dual concentrics like used in the Arden, Eton and Westminster. They are coloured, but very good coloured.

Now I am looking at revolution xt 6 se or V6. Which is more true to old tannoy sound Ike gold or hpds?
