AVO 8 Mk3

Concerning equipment, maybe some could help. This is an old multi-meter which many old timers (like me) will be familiar with. Received mine in the mid 70,s from the company I worked for and has been a work horse ever since.

It decided it didn't want to work on the basic ohm scale so after checking batteries took it apart and found a resister open so I removed it and now I need to identify it and maybe someone could help. It's a blue resistor and is about the size of an old 1/2 watt and has a set of numbers 4014 and the next line 9R0 and is a 0.5%

I have looked for a schematic and the one I found doesn't share any info on this resistor.

Many thanks for any help.

Dave...

Mine is a Mk6 but I can check anything if you want.

9R0 is 9 Ohms so would get a suitable power rating 9Ohm and put it in there.

Looking at the circuit diagrams on the linked pages the mk3 manual isn't that helpful, but the Mk4 clearly shows a 9 Ohm resistor at R7 that would certainly kill resistance measurements!

Back in the 50's we went to Worthing for two weeks in July, if I remember correctly was the best two weeks weather-wise of the year, often it was raining when we arrived.. lol
Trying to find a 9 ohm resistor without spending $8 s&h. I sense a road trip soon. 667, June 1967.

Thanks Andrew, good point. I'm not quite sure where this is in the ohm scale circuit but if it's only resistance measurement, these days for what I do .......I don't need it that accurate anyway. I'll get it as cloase as I can ....Dave
