Bass Bin for Home

Hi,
I'm looking at adding a powerful PA sub to my Mackie tops for use inside the house for parties and occasionally outside.
I've found some huge Martin Audio 115 on eBay for a decent price and was just wondering whether these would sound crap on their own without being stacked or whether they would simply be too overpowering sound wise?

Even if Martin claims 40Hz, they aren't doing anything below 60Hz, a stack of 8 hits ~50Hz though. They are capable of very high spl but really need EQing. Amp power isn't as expensive as it was in the 70s and 80s, drivers got meanwhile a lot less distortion, you'd be much better off to use the same enclosure volume to get 2-4x 18" BR or sealed subwoofers since they will go much deeper, louder and cleaner. Unless you can get them for 2 crates of beer it's better to pass.
