thanks! After posting this thread i realised i could just get winamp...i wasnt awake at the time! Whilst doing that i saw an EQ plugin for 250 band EQ but ive yet to try it the sound from winamp is better than WMplayer so ive made a little headway. Thanks again.
winamp eh? checking it out. I have downloaded several players. All seem to be a royal pain. This is what has stopped me from building a media server. Bad user interfaces. That and I don't look forward to ripping a thousand CD's and trying to find skins and play lists.
Foobar can look like anything you like. Mine is very simple. Genre, artist, album cover, lyrics, artist info. I have also tried winamp, but it's not as flexible in design. You have to deal with a more or less fixed layout.
If you don't want to rip, pay someone to do it. It's not legal in my country, but i think it's legal in US

winamps UI isnt amazing, but i managed to get my music in there easily enough, the EQ is similar to WMP. the open source 250 band constant Q EQ i havent plugged in, as yet, from their site. Seems configurable number of bands up to 250, and like many dsp plug ins, im not 100% that it will function in forced 24bit output. I will have to see!
One reason I quit winamp (beside not being very flexible) is the lousy plugins. Most of the time they made Winamp crash. A clean winamp is not bad at all, but for just playing music prefer foobar (eventhough it's very intuitive to configure)
/me in love with Electri-Q
I've used this one a lot, too. It works very well with foobar.
wow you guys have been busy! Thanks mark, ill take a look at those. Ive heard foobar mentioned before but i never got round to trying it, for some reason i thought it was an active crossover filter application. Got my wires crossed, but i should check it out. Thanks again 🙂
The Noname eq is another great sounding eq as well.
It is a fully parametric eq,

I have many many other eq's but I have not tried them all yet, including Multiband Parametric to just plain ole Graphic Eq's all free VST's.
