ive just been checking out these blue-ray dvd players and it looks like they may well be rather brilliant as cd players.....
Apparently the blue lasers use a lower frequency laser so they can read discs more accurately as a side-effect........ may be good as a transport

I think it is of a higher frequency and thus smaller wavelength. you can only measure something with a similar sizer ruler thusly by having a shorter wavelength the blue laser should provide greater accuracy. Though the true aim of the new technology is the smaller pits that may be read by the new laser and thus the greater density of storage!
