BMR drivers NXT flat panels etc

I just read some older posts about BMR (balanced mode radiators?) made by CSS and sold by Wimslow Audio in the UK. Apparently all BMR drivers are made under licence to NXT who have changed their name to something else, maybe bought out, who knows. I just remembered that I have a pair of NXT flat panel speakers badged TDK saved from an old three-piece stereo FM radio CDP combo whose CDP failed-all too common in cheap combo units.

Does anyone have experience and comments on using these types of panels as mid/tweeter or FR in FAST systems using helper bass XO about 200 - 300Hz. I am thinking OB as the panels seem to be Dipole radiators with partly vented rear. They are nominal 4 ohm 8W panels 180mm H X 130mm W X 25 D with perforated black metal grilles. By themselves they are reasonably clear and undistorted although lacking in bass and easily overdriven as FR speakers. I think they qualify as Wide range drivers, perhaps FR with EQ. There are lots of these speakers available in thrift shops, recycling centres for $5/pair.

BMRs, NXT etc

X thanks for the pointer to experimental pages, but you may have read me wrong. I have no intention of actually "making" loudspeakers from panels and exciters. I just wondered if the panels I have would work well as FR drivers as is in a FAST system. If necessary I could look around for more and stack them to make a larger surface area. I believe that NXT and TDK would have made these panels as good as possible considering the small size etc and I was just trying to re-purpose them into something more useful or increase volume without increasing distortion. The TDK panels I have are very solid all-metal design and would be easy to mount into larger baffles,.

I guess I will just try a quick mono prototype of baffle with panel mounted as if it was a FR with all the usual offsets, spacing from woofer etc and see how it sounds. I have NO information about panel's sensitivity, but if I biamp this should not be a problem. I have two-way analog active XO and a couple of amps. Did you find that these exciter and BMR speakers worked better with tube(valve) amps or solid state amps?mAgain I will just try it anyway.

I first became interested in these devices/technique when I visited a local museum and they used exciters to drive life size cut outs of famous people delivering speeches. I remember that the output was very realistic for speech. They seem to be used a lot for fixed AV displays where hidden speakers are desirable/tamper proof/even waterproof.
