Putting this in “full range” as I think these little Bose “redline” twin-cubes are full-range drivers…
Question; have 5 orphaned twin-cubes from an old mid-90’s Lifestyle 12 system.
I was wonder if I can use the 10 little drivers to build a pair of 5-drive mini line-arrays, or, a smallish pair of 5-drive “901 micro clones”.
Make sense?, do-able?
Any known plans I could “Ikea-hack” to make either of these ideas a reality?
Thanks tons in advance!

Most people lose the cubes in moves. You could get some decent $$$ out of em on ebay, and they are easy to ship.
Then with that $$$ you can buy some real full range speakers for your line array.
Thanks.
Srinath.

Let me take a stab at somewhat more of a politically correct response than Srinath's "real" full range speakers 😉
Most compact Bose systems rely on varying degrees of EQ, patented engineering, and elegant marketing bafflegab to achieve their results. Attempting to repurpose such drivers could be an interesting ezercise in futility.
As for a "mini" line array, there'd be numerous members here who would suggest that regardless of driver make / model, anything less than full room height would not get you where you think you need to be.

Unless you want to sit in exactly one spot (vertically) for great imaging, it'd be best to use them some other way. I would also vote for selling them for something else 😉

Thanks for the replies. I also have other orphaned HTIAB speakers - Yamahas, KLH model 09 "twistables" - that I'd like to find creative uses for the drivers.
Ok, so a mini-line array is nonsense, what about a mini OB from the 2-drive KLHs, or the idea of a pair of 5-drive mini-901s made up of the 10 Bose drivers?
(Haven't opened the Yammies to see what each of the 5 "cabinets" contain...)

As a former Bose-monger myself 🙂 (3+ pairs of original 901 collecting dust), I might offer some suggestions. First to the snobs, which let's face it, is 99% of us here 😀 I say "lay off!" The OP is not dumb enough to buy Bose new (even I'm not!!!) ... he is asking how to re-purpose old stuff. I second the idea to sell them if you're likely to get a nice profit. I'm an Ebay veteran myself. I've sold some old items for $0.01 (+ shipping) but other times I have sold a broken item for more than I could buy a new replacement for! (Wireless thermometer). Go figure. EQ is easy nowadays. If your source is a PC or most anything else, it will have fair to complex EQ as an option. I've no idea what you can build with your speakers. What is the impedance of one driver? This will dictate how you can wire them up. If it were me, the 5-driver clone sounds interesting. Wiring five drivers to make a 8 ohm load may be even more interesting 🙂 For enclosure, why not do cardboard or foam board for first shot?
