Getting into turntables and while I decide on a table I thought I'd get a proper pickup/riaa amp first. I was recommended the CP1, and quickly after found a youtube video about modding it with 3x LM4562NA OpAmp IC's, claiming to make a big improvement in sound.
Anything I should be concerned about if doing this mod outside warranty? Voltage/power consumption wise?

The 4562 should be a straight swap in that case. Power consumption is similar and I wouldn't foresee any stability issues in this application.
.. you can build a AD797 MC phono amp for under $100 & it is better than most phono amps costing over $4000. Cheers
Sorry for the late reply. I see you have a relatively recent post from January where you express yourself explicitly as a total novice on the build you already so warmly recommend here. So I wonder if all your conviction about it being better than a modded CP1 and most $4000+ phono amps comes from theoretical Internet research or actual experience. I'm open for it being good, but have a healthy curiosity in the foundation of any strong statement, in your case, "it is".
Feel free to provide a specific schematic I can have a look at. I'll try it just for fun if parts run me < $100. Could be a fun experiment regardless, especially if the general consensus is that it's very good.
