Cassette Player 'no tape' error

I have an aiwa xr-em70 mini system which sa's 'no tape' even when there is a tape in it.

Anyone have an idea what the cause might be and how to fix it?

Look for any micro switches on the top edge of the mech (where the record prevention switch is) that detect the presence of a cassette.
