I think you mean cermet (ceramic+metal=cermet).

I like the sound of my amp (Tripath based amp3) when using the Alps Blue Velvet pot as a volume control (conductive plastic).

Hi,
I quite liked the sound of a cermet pot. But could not use it turned to high attenuation due to severe balance errors (dual track).

Some might complain it is a bit too electronic.
If the whole amp is wired up using metal film then more could be too much.

I wonder if the Tube boys use carbon track?

Hi Leolabs,
I like conductive plastic pots myself. They tend to feel smoother on average too.
