Classy Christmas Music for Free Streaming!

In the mid 1990s, I produced three CDs of sacred and traditional Christmas music, arranged for string quartet in the most ungimmicky way possible.

The series was so successful that my friends at Steinway asked to buy the master tapes, which they have reissued as a 3-CD set--available on Amazon (NB NB NB I do not profit from those sales, or from the downloads!).

But to show what Menschen they are, Steinway makes my music--as well as more than 100 piano CDs, some of which are amazing--available for free listening (albeit MP3 quality). No need to register or give your email address!

Representative reviews:

"A first-class string quartet plays tasteful arrangements … in refreshingly ungimmicky style. Warmly recommended for those who like the tunes better than the words." -- The Washington Post

"A simple string quartet breathes new life into Christmas classics … brings out the natural beauty in the songs of Christmas. This album will substitute nicely if you won’t be having a live string quartet at this year’s Christmas party." -- The Christian Science Monitor

And here's the whole catalog:

There were two different engineers on the three CDs, and three different venues, but all the recordings were made with minimalist stereo micing. Bob Ludwig did my mastering back then, so the audio quality is very good.

Merry Christmas,

john
