Crossover Impedence

Hi,

I have a passive loudspeaker with two drivers. A 8 ohm tweeter and 4 ohm woofer. I purchased a crossover from audiopipe (CRX-23k), and now that I noticed, the crossover has these jumper wires to switch from 4 ohm to 8 ohm.

What is this about? Does this setting need to match both my drivers in which case I would need to replace either my 4 ohm driver with a 8 ohm or my 8 ohm with a 4 ohm. Or does this setting need to match the impedance seen by my amplifier connected in parallel in which case I would replace the 4 ohm driver with a 8 ohm driver to get a total impedance of 4 ohm.

An image of the crossover is provided.

My guess, is that the jumper is only for the woofer. It seems to be swapping or adding the caps together.

So my guess is you should match your woofer's impedance. Unfortunately this doesn't help your tweeter situation.

I would suggest you review the crossover and see if there are recommended drivers that go with it.

Off-the-shelf crossovers have a really tough time matching random drivers.

Best,

I am afraid you will be unhappy with this generic crossover. What if one driver is more efficient that the other? I don't see a way to correct that. I suggest you give more info about your enclosures and drivers and see if someone here can model a decent crossover for your specific application.
