I am planning make my first Pair of speakers for myself.
I don't know much about wiring.
Can somebody explaine to me how to wire them.
here is my setup:
Two Pioneer woofers TL-1603 (maybe 1602 or 1601c would be bwtter?)
Two Pioneer TD-4001 Drivers.
Wooden Horn i am going to do by myself! Cabins too!
Two crossovers - Dayton PC2W1.6K 2 way, 1,600 Hz.
Bryston 7B-SST-pro Amplifier.
Its going to look like this:
Did i miss something?
Help me please!

I once knew a guy with Asperger syndrome.
😀 😉 🙄
Apologies, couldn't resist. 🙂
Am I the only one that thought of that when glancing at the subject?

Good grief! Seems like you'd at least get some T/S parameters from the manufacturer's website for those kinds of prices, much less measurements of any sort. What's up with Pioneer/TAD?? This stuff's outrageous. I knew TAD was high, but jeez. 😱
TAD
TAD gives very complete T/S specifactions for their drivers... it's on the "specifications" page.

Unless I have missed something... no no NO! Sorry for the bad news, but here it is.
You can not just buy drivers and a crossover and whack them together, ESPECIALLY with such quality drivers. The crossover must be made for your speakers, utilising real life measurements in controlled conditions and designed by someone who knows what they are doing.
Madisound.com offer a crossover modeling service, but with that sort of serious system I would not trust them to model it. You need real measurements.
Thanks guys for answers!
I just relly don't know how to connect Woofer and driver together.
Two contacts going from woofer to drivers (split together) , out of monitors to amp, and crossover?

I sympathize with your situation. This is a very fine monitor,
and deserves serious effort.
It so happens that I worked up a similar system for one of my
business partners using the 1601 in a BLH and 4001 with the
Emlar horns. Here is the schematic for that speaker:

Here also is a snapshot of the 1M response of the speaker.
I don't happen to think that this is the best possible crossover
for this speaker, but it is a good start.
My business partner is reknown for tweaking passive crossovers
(he insists on passive crossovers as they are essential to
evaluating amplifiers, which of course is our primary business),
and so the presumption was made that he would play with it
over time.
I suggest simply that is a good start, known to measure well, and
might serve as the basis for a more refined version.

So i need 1 amp. for pair of 4001?
And one for pair of 1603 woofer?
So outputs from both 4001 goes to first amplifier, and from 1603 to second?
Is it right?
Can anybody upload image from inside of speaker, so i can see each wire location?
Or drow for me schematic.
I cannot understand attachment from Nelson Pass! i need something simple.
Thank you!😱 😱 😱

Woofer connects to low frequency output on crossover, horn connects to high frequency output on crossover. crossover input connects to an amplifier.
Hehe, no worries. I think this whole thread is crazy anyway! What is someone with no idea how to wire a driver to a crossover doing with $$$$ of drivers? No offense intended to the guy!
hi,you are spending 5600.00 on drivers and have no idea how a crossover works!maybe starting a little smaller with one of the many fine designs you can find here, like one of zaphs designs.loudspeaker design is not plug and play.it takes emense knowledge to build a good speaker.if your going to spend that kind of money ,i suggest spending alittle more and get a professional to design it for you
Just jealous you are 🙂 but ofcourse, right you are too, about not to start from the top with difficult drivers, that may never work properly without the right care and only reaching 50% of their true potential in which case you might just as well use the much cheaper 15" Usher and a Beyma CD
I WAS GOING TO REPLACE 4001 WITH REDEON 835 PB .
Do i need 8 ohm version or 16?
Compare to 400, is it good?
Its really cheap.
Thank you!😎

I would suggest you buy yourself a copy of the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook or borrow it from the library and read it several times. Then start off with a relatively inexpensive but excellent quality kit design, something like this that is available as a full kit from Madisound.

After you build that, if you found it enjoyable and find yourself itching to spend more money on TAD components, you have 5 options, as I see it. Here they are with the simplest solution first.
1). Buy some used TAD 2404, Westlake Studio Monitors, JBL K2 S9800's, some Augspurger customs, or some Edgarhorn Titan II's, and save yourself from possibly melting some expensive and dangerous berrylium TAD's
2). Use a proven design that has the crossover schematic posted, like the one that Nelson Pass offered. In that case you need to buy the same drivers and the Emilar EH-500 horn, or I can almost guarantee that it will not work properly. Almost always, compression drivers are not interchangeable
3). Buy yourself a ready to use active crossover like an Ashley XR-1001, 2 amplifiers, and experiment with compensation networks and crossover points without having to do hardly any assemble work, except for cabinets
3). Hire someone with measurement equipment, including a calibrated microphone and some CAD design software to measure the drivers, model a cabinet, build a prototype cabinet (or send you the plans), re-measure the drivers in the cabinet and design and tweak a proper crossover, and send you the whole thing assembled with detailed pictures of how to assemble it
4). Prepare to spend countless hours reading and researching. Get yourself a CAD program like SoundEasy, a good quality sound card, a calibrated microphone, a microphone preamp, Joe D'Appolito's book on testing loudspeakers, a soldering iron, a table saw, a router, a tank vacuum, some safety glasses, a patient and understanding spouse, lots of free-time, lots of wires for hooking up different things, and get to work designing and building your own speakers. Then after several years you could find that you have an enjoyable new hobby, or possibly come to the realization that you could have saved yourself a lot of time and a bundle of money if you had just bought some used speakers from Craigslist
