Danish speakers

Anyone hear about the Buchardt line of speakers from Denmark. They are getting really good reviews on youtube especially the S 400 model 2 way speaker. You order them directly from the manufacturer in Denmark and get 30 days to try them out. I would really like to hear from anyone who has any experience with these speakers especially Canadians so I could find out how much duty and taxes it would be to order a pair.

Howdy,

what does is matter what people are saying, the will say anything.🙂 Nowadays anyone can build a good sounding 2 way loudspeaker just by means of having a brief read on this forum, for the information is more than adequate for it, and then some. You think this product that employs SB acoustics like drivers is worth 2.2 k€, then order it. There is alternatives in DIYed versions for significantly less funds. Good luck!

Do you have any suggestions on good DIY alternatives?
I just finished of a pair of Paul Carmodys "Speedster" Made me want to build more small good sounding bookshelf speakers 🙂

A good alternative is any decent midwoofer of a similar quality paired with a tweeter of a similar quality and a waveguide perhaps like a Monacor WG 300. Crossover, a 2 hour job with a measurement gear already in place and ready.

Well that sounds easy... I know that obviouse that you need similar drivers. But just leaving a comment like that and this description on how to make a good 2way is not that convincing if you ask me..

You have obviously not heard the Buchardt speakers. They do sound VERY nice for the price asked. 🙂

This knowitall attitude from people don't knowing what they talk about gets tiring...

Habsfan - I’m not sure on what figure the evaluation for duty/ tax would be made in the case of speakers brought in for approval, and if the i’s aren’t properly dotted and t’s crossed on shipping customs paperwork, getting refund back from CBSA can be a shiteton of fun.
That said, when applicable, the local GST / Provincial sales taxes would be assessed on the invoiced price times prevailing exchange rate for the currency listed, and is normally collected COD.
I’m a bit curious how they can offer free international shipping for such appraisals- either there’s some very fine print to carefully review, or they’re at the front end of a learning curve.
As for the speakers themselves, their performance might well be both quite delightful, and easy to approach with established DIY designs for less money, but absent of course that return policy.

Windala,

already made waveguide designs you can find at Troels Gravesen's web, Audio Excite, Zaph Audio as well, I think. Then again these might not be what you expect , but they are what they are and there is no rule that says you can not modify to your needs.
