So I'm trying to replace the sub on my PC setup.
My current sub is part of an ancient Logitech Z-5500 setup, which has a 10" sub, and I've been very happy with it.
Can anyone give me some info/opinions on which would be better between the Dayton or Monoprice?
I like the larger driver of the MP, but the Dayton has a good rep among the searches I've done also. I just can't tell which would be the better option overall.
I would be connecting it to something like this (probably), most likely via the sub out, unless I can't for some unforeseen reason.

They will both do ok near field like at a PC desk. Just depends on your expectations and goals.
Not interested in just making your own?
Very best,

My goals are for it to sound as good or better than the 10" sub I have now as part of my Z-5500.
I'd love to make my own sub, but I already have so many projects going, I just don't have the time. 😵

For nearfield listening (i.e. typical PC use), do you really need more output than what a 10" subwoofer can provide? 🙂
Not necessarily. I'm mainly looking at the 12" subs because their cabinets are large enough for me to place a full size home theater AVR on top, which expands my options for amp and connections greatly. 😀For nearfield listening (i.e. typical PC use), do you really need more output than what a 10" subwoofer can provide? 🙂
At the moment, after watching a few of the video reviews linked in the channel above, I'm actually leaning towards the Jamo C912. It's highly rated, and is on sale at Amazon right now for $165 for the white one.
If I get that and a used AVR from FB or CL, I can stay under my overall budget, and probably end up with better quality gear than if I buy the import amp thing I was looking at in the OP.
The only thing that worries me is how to accomplish the connections, since most modern AVRs don't have individual channel inputs.
If I can get the Windows to reliably send 5.1 sound through my GPU via HDMI, that will work out perfectly, but I'm not sure how easy that will be to get working.
Wow Jamo C912s are 520$ here in Denmark as we speak which but you can get them in Germany for 330$!
Welcome to the wonderful world of the free market economy, and freaky Amazon price swings. 🙂Wow Jamo C912s are 520$ here in Denmark as we speak which but you can get them in Germany for 330$!
If it makes you feel any better, the black version of the same sub is USD199. No difference, other than color. Go figure.
