DC offset vs. Jensen Isomax

Most probably, yes.

Minimum input impedance for your Amp with it is 10k though, which i guess it's likely to be.

If your Pre has significant DC offset, it can/will affect a transformers performance. How much DC is there ? There should be very little, or none. Using a capacitor in series with the output will eliminate it, & will be less $ too

If the preamplifier has significant DC offset, is the Jesen isomax completely block it. I know it will affect the performance of the transformer. What I concern whether the DC offset from the preamplifier will go to the loudspeaker while Jesen is there? thx!

STOP !!!!

The transformer inside the Iso will not allow the DC to pass to the next stage.

That transformer does not "block" the DC. It allows the DC to pass around the primary circuit and will completely ruin the performance of the transformer.
It may even permanently damage the transformer if the core takes a residual flux due to excessive DC current.

Let me clarify the situation. Make it short, my friend's speaker has a very very low impedance and he has solid state amplifier. So, he decided to put an autoformer with 3 to 4 times impedance multiplication, and this is the autoformer:

ZEROs

Read the last paragraph of this link:

ZEROs Story

It requires to have a fuse between the output of the amp and the autoformer primary to avoid the possibility of DC offset from the preamplifier.

We've discussed this issue and come up an idea by putting the Jensen Iso-Max between the preamp and power amplifier for 2 purpose:

1) Better and Quiet sounding

2) Avoid the DC offset

If significant DC offset from the preamplifier, the fuse might get blow up anyway, same as this Jensen transformer. However, FUSE sound bad but Jensen will improve the sound; both will blow up / burnt out when DC offset is really there.

In conclusion:
- The only different fuse is much cheaper, but a good sounding fuse won't be cheap!!
- Ios-max transformer vs. fuse, fuse is a fuse, no matter who makes it, we think Iso-max is the best sounding solution 🙂
