I was dumb enough to measure distance between leads, ignoring diameter of the four large filtering capacitors. Now they don't fit within the allocated envelope, of course and the only two ideas are:

1. Return the new capacitors and purchase ones that would fit in. That takes time and money.

2. Mount the capacitors on a plate and mount the plate 3/4in above the PCB (currently they are soldered on the power amp PCB) then solder wire extensions from the capacitor terminals to the PCB.

My first question is:

If I go the second route, what are my risks?

My second question is:

Is there a better way to do this? I thought of mounting a pair on each side of the PCB, but the one mounted at the bottom would still need extensions, since the only way to mount them is in horizontal position with reference to the PCB.

Thanks in advance.

Best
