DIY Bluetooth speaker parts help

Hello everyone, new to the site and hoping to get some input on a bluetooth speaker setup I am putting together. I have chosen the parts I believe I need, but I want to make sure I am getting good components.

Please let me know what you think and how I can improve the build.

I am having trouble with what to do about bass as it has been suggested that the passive radiators that parts express sells will not be of use in this setup and I should port the box. I didn't want to do this. I looked at a small 2 inch subwoofer with a mono driver, Would this work?

I plan to put this in a 1/4 mdf box with osage orange wood laminated 1/8 on the outside and have the electronics in a separate unit.

Thanks!

The Aura's sensitivity is only 78dB compared to the Tymphany's 85dB. That's quite a difference and based on that alone, I would choose the Tymphany. In any case, you won't get much bass out of these (haven't modeled them yet).

Also, what are you using to transfer the audio stream from the bluetooth module to the mini amp(s)?

Get a Yuan Jing TPA3116D2 amp with built in Bluetooth module.
Yuan Jing Audio - TPA3116 Class-D 2.1 Stereo Amplifier [50W x 2]+ Sub-Woofer [100W] Bluetooth - $49.80

Use the sub output to drive a 5 in Tang Band high excursion sub driver and a passive radiator. Use the stereo outputs to drive a pair of Faital Pro 3FE25 drivers in sealed boxes.

Do not get separate amp and BT module. The ground loop noise will kill the sound quality unless you get an isolated DC converter to power the BT module.

Thanks for the replies.

My goal here is for a portable bluetooth speaker setup with charging capabilities. A much larger driver was recommended, but this is too large for the project. From what I can tell going higher than 3W will drastically effect my battery life so I choose 2x3 watt amps with 4rms, 8 peak watts speakers that looked to be good ones. I would like to get some extra bass and looked at a 2 inch sub and small mono driver, would this work?

Hi X
What is rule of thumb for passive radiator selection? Is it 2x diameter of active driver?

Depends on the PR TS params like mass, compliance, etc. But rule of thumb is it needs to be bigger maybe double the Sd, twice dia would be 4x. You really need to simulate it for the best chance of success. I hear new WinISD can do this. AkAbak handles it as well.
