Hello,
My goal is to biamp my speakers. And my preamp has only one "main out".
THanks.

- Can I simply splice (soldering) 1 RCA cable into 2?
- Would this cause any damage to the preamp or to the 2 amplifiers?
- Besides testing for continuity, how should I test to ensure the output is equal to the 2 legs?
THanks.
Hi,
Yes you can use a splitter cable. Your power amplifiers need the
same gain or one needs a volume control. To biamp 2-ways
you really only need a much smaller treble amplifier, and
adding a first order high pass to it by reducing the input
coupling capacitor will prevent bass causing clipping.
TBH bi-amping with similar amplifiers for me only makes
sense for 3-ways, one for bass, one for mid and treble.

Thanks Sreten.
I may have a problem then. The objective is drive Martin Logan electrostics with tube preamps for the upper end and a solid state amp for the lowers.
And I would like to fabricate the "Y" cables myself.
Any further thoughts?
Rgds,
Joe
