Dual Home Theatre centre channel speakers?

With TVs becoming ever larger, the poor centre channel speaker is being pushed further and further away from the screen's centre, where much dialogue is visually located.

Has anyone experimented with two centre channel speakers, one above and one below the screen to try and achieve a more centred audio image?

I've used 2 centre speakers in the past but on either side of the screen as no location was available above or below the TV. Worked well for on axis viewing.

I've also had a single centre speaker under the TV in the stand but angled towards the viewer's ears and was effective with height to lock dialogue to the screen. Also tried a phantom centre in the past which worked for on axis viewing and allowed dialogue to follow the image placement and now only use 2.1 as plenty for my environment and needs.

With my TV, the screen is the speaker with 3 actuators so locks dialogue very well to the image as it moves across the screen. With matching propriety equipment it can be used as a centre speaker but I don't have any of that but occasionally I'll forget to mute the TV when using 2.1 and it does add to dialogue location but never found it necessary.
