Dynaco power supply ST35

I have been rebuilding a Dynaco ST35 amp. I am thinking of doing a new power supply External larger transformer and DC heater circuit. Has anyone tried this?

The little amp before in its original state run very hot. I have seen some threads that say the one thing about this amp is the power supply was never sufficient and is taxed.

Scott.

None of the original transformers are deficient, they run a bit hot but that’s to be expected in a vintage tube amp. My two st-35s have been working fine for the past 50+ years, I’ve had them for about 10, that seems pretty reliable 😉

Dave Gillespie makes a power supply board that allows for more capacitance and independent biasing for each channel; it seems to work well and sounds good to my ears plus it’s fairly quiet. I didn’t compare to the original power supply because the st-35s were not working when I bought them (bad caps).
