I'm fed up with Fed Ex.
I have a package from Madisound... they shipped it FedEx... it was supposed to be here tomorrow or the day after ( 11/13 or 11/24).
Instead, "Surprise!" FedEx announced it was coming early, on Sunday 11/12. It "will be here from 7:30AM to 10:30AM".
No! no! So, I tried to get them to delay it... but after half an hour trying to get with them I gave.
See... it's my wife's Big Birthday this weekend, We got family here for the whole weekend, events planned. So, I accommodated the pendejos at FedEx. We will go out to dinner on Sunday and do brunch at home. At the last minute my wife told me that we should do dinner at home on Sunday instead ( we were gone all day Saturday ).
At 8 AM, package out for delivery, Delivery scheduled before 1o:30 AM.
Sure enough.. on Sunday at 10:30, no package. Still out for delivery.
At 11:00 AM, delivery changed from 10:30 AM TO 1:30 PM.
At 2 PM no package, delivery changed to End Of Day. Still out for delivery.
Now, this is a Big Birthday and FedEx is a bunch of incompetent nincompoops, do they think they own the market?
Anyhow, we're home, it's now 3PM and still no package.
Tomorrow I'm gonna call Madisound and tell them I will NOT deal with them if they insist on using FedEx.
I get lots of packages... Amazon Logistics is by far the best.... then USPS and UPS. DHL comes through, Costco and Fed Ex are by far the worst.
I am so pissed... being forced to stay home for a lousy $200 package because Madisound shipped it "signature required"... with FedEx.
WTF are they thinking?
Do you have the same issues with FedEx?

UPDATE.
I just looked out the front door and the package was delivered.
IT WAS A SIGNATURE REQUIRED PACKAGE.
We didn't go out to birthday dinner on account of this f%^%&%ng package.... and now they just drop it out front?
TOMORROW I'm gonna have that driver's *** out for a true quartering and hanging.

This is pretty typical of FedEx. Always schedule extra time for delivery.
The point was that I made a point of scheduling it with plenty of extra time... it was not extra time... it was they moved the delivery a day (or two) ahead....
After the pandemic, not sure how much "Signature Required" is required anymore. I know many of the shipping companies told everyone they'd be leaving stuff on porches without notification due to avoidance of human contact. I had a $4500 macbook pro with "Signature Required" left on my front porch with no notice. I was expecting it and had the luxury of staying home and watching the front porch like a hawk.
I think the most recent time they actually asked for a signature was when some scotch was being delivered. But, yeah, they don't want Johnny Law involved so ID proffered.

I tried to ship a large set of speakers with Fedex by pallet across the country, and had to do a “bill of lading”. I know nothing about that process, I am just a customer. After several calls, it turned out I’d been given incorrect info, and the end result was that they couldn’t ship it as they do not carry non-new retail products. That was probably bull, too.
The good news was, anytime an item was shipped to me it was easy to pay the tax online or in person.
My experiences with DHL have been more challenging. Their address entry forms (as found in some EU sites) duplicated North American address lines like 3x. Out of instinct, I checked inline while a package was shipping and corrected it.
One big issue with DHL is ridiculously higher brokerage and tax. I bought cycling cleats from europe for $250 CAD with free shipping, and DHL charged $105 brokerage and tax. That doesn’t even make sense. I’ve also been charged tax on taxation-exempt items such as prototype parts. An item has also been stuck in transit at the border awaiting payment for release and they never even contacted me.

Utter nonsense, at least it was a few years ago when I shipped an amp & preamp down south for someone. After several calls, it turned out I’d been given incorrect info, and the end result was that they couldn’t ship it as they do not carry non-new retail products. That was probably bull, too.

We call them fedups. Which previously was the joke about fedex and ups merging.
Fedex has left packages at a trailhead 4 miles from our house. They proudly send the picture "package delivered"--who signed for it, a bear?
A flat pack of threaded rods was found on the yellow stripe in the middle of rt 7(the only highway going from Mass to Canada).
Another time, a box was found under a tree 1/4mi from our house.
A bike made it from the state of Washington to the capitol of New York state in three days. Twenty-Nine days later it finally arrived(after circling Vt
fron NY to Conn to NH and back to NY like the Hebrews in the Sinai- obviously Moses did not like asking for directions, but fedups has Google, etc.)
Only dhl is worse, don't get me started. They built their company out of a pile of failed companies. In the US it was airborne, who were actually good in some areas,
likearound Flagstaff,Az, but terrible in non-urban New England.

If you ever tried being a courier with Fedex, youd realize how hard, basically impossible it is to accommodate customers with certain demands. Tight delivery windows, signature requirements that dont get filled so now the package has to be reattempted the next only to not get a signature again, customers who want you to call them before you deliver. Routes in built up areas will have 100 to 150+ stops a day, so if a bunch of customers want you to do extra stuff for their delivery, all the extra time to do that adds up, then you wont be able to make all your deliveries.
You can always have your package held at a fedex for pickup.

I shipped pair of speakers to CA just before pandemic closure. Two identical packages 50 LBS each $250 charge The border closed and Fedex sent me an info that the package is coming back "act of God" occurrence. Sure enough three days later one of the packages was dumped on the porch.
After a week I received a note that I have $3000 due return shipping balance on missing second package. Surprised I called customer service and was informed that it was due to oversized 150 Lbs weight of the package.
My mistake was to print the labels, deliver the packages to Fedex center but not to ask the clerk there to scan the labels. I've done that hundred of times without a problem and this was my 101. Fedex claimed that the aforementioned package (still missing one speaker ) was scanned 3 times during it's travel and mistake is impossible. I wrote a letter, sent pictures, copies of the labels, Nope ! Customer support offered me a $500 discount on $3000 charge. I had to cancel my CC , account and kiss them goodbye.
Never had any problem with them priori this case and their prices were OK. My packing philosophy is if can be damaged it will be damaged so the only time something was damaged was when I packed something solid but had an uneasy feeling that maybe I should use another box and it was proven to me that I should.

My worst experience with Fedex is when I absolutely, positively had to get something delivered overnight. It was the acceptance form for my severance package and was worth a hefty sum of money to me that it get to corporate processor on time. I went to the fedex store, filled out the forms, paid a lot of money for what was only an envelope. I checked the tracking. It was scanned at the airport about 3 miles away from its destination in St. Louis and then was put on a truck to Kansas City! I ran back to the Fedex store and gave them hell. It was a good thing I kept a few copies. I sent another and they wouldn't even comp me on the cost of the second one. Never again will I use Fedex. I did get my money in the end as the copy got there overnight as expected, and the original arrived late the 3rd day, but still on time.

Crock.. sorry.
I live in in SoCal... suburbia. Five miles from the 405 Fwy.
The delivery was scheduled for 11/13 or 11/14 with signature required.
Period.
I, the receiver made plans accordingly.
FedEx decided to change their plans to their own discretion and did NOT stick to their plans. Effectively hijacking one day of my wife's two day weekend birthday celebrations.
If FedEx can not handle their own plans, then they should not be in business. I was not the shipper's nor my requirement that they deliver "early" and so put an onus on themselves.
BTW, I tried to change FedEx's "early" delivery change... I could not do so after half an hour with them on the website or internet.
It depends where in the world you are. FedEx is crap over here. UPS is even worse. DHL is OK, sometimes. So is Swiss Post.
I don't understand why people do not simply use the "local/national" maill services. They usually work fine and are A LOT cheaper than the crappy FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.
So.. I receive generic packages from FedEx, UPS, USPS and DHL and live just over the line from Boston, MA.
Amazon delivery service is frankly.... amazing. LOL Cannot complain at all.
FedEx generally is the best, with worst alternating between DHL and USPS.
For shipping USPS is a terrible choice with FedEx and UPS being easier to deal with.
DHL I have decided not to use them when possible. They went from expensive but speedy - particularly from China and the EU to slower than China's Direct Line Saver which is much cheaper (shipping PCB).
CrocCap makes a valid point, the best drivers locally are with UPS, followed by FedEx, and I umm occasionally tip them which results in them helping me get heavy objects into the house and things get left in spots much less obvious to prying eyes.
Generally for more fragile items I prefer FedEx strongly to any of the others.
Theft is always a concern here, but I have decided with rare exceptions not to change plans when I receive notification of an inconvenient scheduled delivery. I call that nail biting time if it is a high value package.

It does matter where you live. Way out here in Wyoming the situation tends to change as to the actual driver for that day. Usually the same but beware of substitutes. I won't even comment on the long or short version of people who somehow get employment that actually don't seem to know or care.
^ Yes, it does matter where you live.
Here in suburban OC we're likely very well situated to get the fastest delivery... yet the drivers ( last mile delivery ) are the main point of failure... like the one time I chased one of them after he drove right by my house ( I had the garage door open and was standing outside as he drove by... we even made eye contact...).
"Hey, where's my package"
"Where do you live?"
"xxxxxxx"
""Oh I went by and nobody was home"
(Mind you we had just made eye contact like five minutes earlier)
"BS! I was standing outside and you saw me.... you didn't even stop"
"Oh.... OK... here..."
BS.
I think FedEx's biggest issue where I live is their layout. They make deliveries to the entire county from a single site in Fullerton... Huh? Which is the North part of the county... exposing their delivery routes to lots of freeway traffic. Amazon, UPS, and USPS don't do that.
In a suburban county with over 3.1M people you figure they would have figured that out.

Wow. I thought that I was the only one who argued with the carrier as to whether there was a package on the truck for me or not! She finally admitted that yes there IS something for you, BUT it is an envelope. Yes, yes you won the whole argument there girl.
"Is you is, or is you ain't, one of my constituents?"

Was it Ground or Express?
Ground goes through 3rd party for the delivery. The trucks say FedEx Ground on the side but then in small print it will say something like "operated by Joe's Heating and A/C".
The ground drivers usually aren't paid very well and either don't know how to do things or pretend they don't to keep from having to mark deliveries damaged.
I find the ground drivers here will regularly just put off the delivery a day or two. I'm guessing it is when they don't have anything else in my general area.
