These are actually turntables...

'Record player' is probably the right term for most of those; somewhere above 'close and play' or 'changer', somewhere below 'turntable'.

Here are a few:

Michell Gyrodec, Spacedeck, LP12, project budget, Goldring (vintage)

NB I have heard some very good Pink Triangle tables over the years..🙂

Its difficult to say really without a budget guidance..or interest guide<<ie price no object etc.
Most of the ones in the OP's link most audiophile's would regard as budget level..probably because you have to then pick an arm/cartridge and power supply.

Some people thought linear tracking was the way to go..its got so many years of ideas..Roksan made some good units as well..with things like the corus black cartridge.
The age of the gun slinger<<you only had to stand in a room at a convention and listen to the name dropping..😀 Oh have you Ive got a this with that linked to this via a million dollar cable 😀 Oh have you tried a ring mat..LMAO

Its interesting to note how many of these systems still exist and are used. Also what do these people listen to today?

Folks:

What an amusing premise for a "best of" list! The first paragraph speaks volumes about the quality and depth of the selections:

Whether you have vinyl records handed down to you, you’re a DJ, or you’re getting into vinyl for the first time, you’ll need a good record player. One that’s reliable, durable, and easy to maintain. This week we’re looking at five of the best, based on your nominations. [emphasis added]

The internet is awash with lazily-written crap articles. Most appear to be intended as nothing more than a promotional or advertising vehicle. Most are clearly not 'journalism' as that term is usually defined.

Regards,
Scott
