Flat ribbon cable

There are flat ribbon type cables in a receiver I am working on. It was broken. There is plenty of length to strip and redo it. I am just guessing how to go about it. There are 34 flat aluminum conductors about 1mm wide each. There was an acetate tab attached to the end that slides into the socket. What would be THE best adhesive to use as a backer for the 34 strands?

You should probably post a picture. There are too many different types of connectors to answer your question. Usually ribbon cable connectors are insulation-displacement types that don't require stripping the wire or any sort of adhesive.

I would be careful connectors for ribbon cables are usually of the IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) type and are not usually designed (or easy) to reconnect.

Although just pondering your post before replying is this the sort of cable you are dealing with?
