Hello. My name is Cristian Peregrino and I am from Argentina.
I have a pair of Fostex FE206NV in a bass reflex (55 Liters tuned to the Fs) .
I plan to build some Horn.
I have three designs in my head. Karishima, Joan from The Frugel Horn and the one proposed by Fostex in the driver's data sheet.
Did someone build this box? What impressions do you have?
Thanks.

The best factory designs have been OK. Many are poor.
Kirishima or Vulcan would be the pinnacle (at teh price of a tall box)

Dallas II horn should work with those as well.

If you are going to use the NV with a woofer, a better alternative might be Bottlehead-style, put it in a sealed box (7 litres looks about right), use the 2nd order roll-off (120 Hz) to match to a powered woofer each side.

Small horns really are quarter wave pipes in the bass region. The Schamackshorn is a good horns, I have heard them with JBL 2110 turning out insane levels of bass.

I would not call them small. Quite complicated enclosures to construct, too.Yes, Ron’s Dallas II probably represents the best small horn.
dave
Compared to Vulcan or Kirishima, Dallas is small. They are all complicated, Ron’s having angles the others do not.

What do you think of that design? It is a modification of the Fostex FE208 Sigma horn. https://backloaded.exblog.jp/25136139/
Thanks.

Thanks.

You’d have to do a sim. The starting point is one of the better factory horns, but keep in mind all the originals were designed for the FE206e/FE208∑ generation of drivers.

Yes. I plan to use them with a pair of Fostex FE206NV. I hope they work weel too. You’d have to do a sim. The starting point is one of the better factory horns, but keep in mind all the originals were designed for the FE206e/FE208∑ generation of drivers.

Thanks. There is not much reference to fostex FE206NV and horns.
Christian.
What software do you recommend to be able to simulate this horn? I know how to use WINISD, but it doesn't work for this simulation. Thanks Dave. You’d have to do a sim. No idea about that one, but the designer of the Dallas II did a lot of work to optimise it.I found this on a Japanese blog. It looks a lot like the Dallas II. Will it also work for the Fostex FE206NV like the Dallas II? This box is easier to build.
Christian
I did not find them difficult to build, you need some tools and a background with woodwork.
Like any build, take time, and care then things work out.
Hello Cristian,
Kinda late to this. I built the folded horn as sold by Madisound. Back then, the driver was the FE202EN. I am very pleased with them. The efficiency is amazing. A sub helps, but is certainly not required. Unfortunately, they are not currently available due to the high cost of materials. One can follow the plans on the Fostex site. In addition to responding to Cristian, the purpose of this missive is simply to join the conversation. I will say here, and on the amp forum, my delight with both the speakers, and especially my Akitika amp and preamp. They see frequent, high volume rock n roll, and in seven years have performed flawlessly. Dan is a great resource; always answering the phone or emails. The assembly manual is well-written. I especially like the reference to performing a "smoke test," before final work. I see above that a very positive reference is made to the new GT-104, as replacement for the amps using the LM3886. I would highly recommend anything from Akitika.
