🙂Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forums, and discovered the site after doing a Google search? on alternatives to the DREMEL Drill Press!
I read an old thread on the subject, and thought I should join and discover more?

I own a DREMEL 300 rotary Tool + Flexi shaft.I also purchased a Dremel Vice which I was very dissapointed with, the quality is C!*p in my mind, probably built in China down to a price! So now I would like to buy a Drill Press for my 300 dremel I thought I do not like the look of the Dremel Offering workstation!! and wondered if there was a good solid alternative to it in Europe?that would fit the 300 series?
I like PROXXON and wish I had purchased them from the start but here in Norway at that time it was not possible so I ended up with DREMEL!and can not afford to change over totally to PROXXON,mores the pity PROXXON Is in a differnet league to Dremel re quality.

I hope you guys can help
Best wishes Steve😀

Alternative To DREMEL-Compact Power tools(Help Appreciated)?

🙂Hello

I am very intersted in buying some compact Modelling tools
Specifically a JIGSAW & a Standard DRILL.I know DREMEL make some small versions but am not toatlly happy with DREMEL so thought I would look at some alternatives, specifcally for Craft type work but also more general uses.rather than going for the heavyweight power tools

any help appreciated
Steve🙂

Proxxon has plenty of its own issues. I purchased their drill stand and have had second thoughts about it. It’s reasonably well thought out, and is very accurate for drilling holes in PC boards, but with a little more thought, and some quality control improvement, it could be an excellent product.
I reviewed this tool on the Amazon website if you care to read it. Amazon calls me “Artie G”

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Proxxon 28606 MICROMOT Drill Stand MB 140/ S

I only use the Proxxon for the drill press, as I also have a Dremel tool, that is far more versatile for other uses, and its motor develops more torque than the Proxxon.
I have the 12VDC “power pack” Proxxon tool. I added an “on-off” toggle switch” to the power pack (should have been included), and that makes drilling easier. It appears that the control on the tool is a point of failure, and the added switch should reduce the wear, and it allows the speed to remain as set at the desired point.
While looking at drill stands, I did find one on the ‘net for the Dremel that appeared to be very well made, but it was in the $150 range. I cannot remember the brand name.

Hi artg & jer
Good to hear from you guys much obliged,I bow to your experience as I am no expert but some of the Dremel stuff is very poorly built
Odd I have nevr read a bad word about Proxxon stuff until now?
I would have purchased the Proxxon drill stand but of course it does not fit the Dremel 300 series mores the pity.as I have read lots of negs on the dremel workstation.

I will check out the http://www.stripersonline.com/t/5968...op-drill-press
But will it work with Dremel 300?and I would have to find similar in Europe not the USA (shipping cost)

many thanks Steve

Yes I agree!!

My latest Dremel went out within a month of use, something with the switch and brush assembly.
I had a Craftsman High Speed Drill for some 30 years and it just recently burned up, so now I am without for a while.

I was going to get a Press for the Dremel but for the cost they were just too cheesy and would not have lasted very long with me.
That was when I found the little 8" Delta drill press.

But, I do need to find my Dremel and have an attempt to fix it though, even if it ends up full on and I have to build a controller for it!
All of my projects are on hold right now because of it.
The Fiber wheel is my main weapon of choice!!!

jer 🙂

Hi Again Jer,
Good to hear back from you,I would be very happy if I could find a drill press (made entirely of metal!) which my dremel 300 will fit,The ddrill press fro Dremel is very expensive and as you say cheesy.and I think flimsy to! if the Dremel vice is anything to go by, it was just not up to the job and I am not particulary hard on tools.

So guys if anyone knows of a drill press in Europe which will work with my dremel then superb

Regards Steve

I have that same Delta drill press, and I'm very pleased with it after 12+ years. My only criticism of it is that the spindle is just a little "sloppy" after years of use. It's of no consequence, for everyday drilling, but would be an issue for precision drilling, which is why I bought the Proxxon. I sure wouldn't recommend trying to adapt a rotary tool to the Delta drill press.
From all the reviews that I've read, the Dremel drill stand is a very poor product. There's even a Youtube video comparing the Dremel and Proxxon drill stands.
I just noticed a drill stand for the Dremel that I had not seen before. Had this been available a few months ago, I might have tried it, but of course know nothing more about it than the info shown:
