Can anyone here help me?First let me say,Im not real ecucated with connecting all this stuff up,and did'nt even know what a crossover was intil a couple days ago, which brings me to my question.I need to connect my amp to my 2 way passive crossover. The amp has RCA jacks for a set of RCA cables,(RED and WHITE) RCA PLUGS.The crossovers have the screw in clamps to connect the other end of the RCA cable.I received 2 sets of RCA cables with my Crossovers to connect my crossovers to my amp.My question is;I have 2 ends with no RCA plus on my rca cables that have been cut and the wires stripped for connecting them to my amp.Where Im confused is there are 4 different wires on the stripped ends.RED,WHITE,and 2 bare wires with no covering.Do I twist the red and white wires together and the 2 bare wires together to make 2 wires out of the 4 wires and clamp these to the 2 screw clamps on my amplifier, and ofcorse connect my tweeters, and mids to their connections on my passive crossovers.
Any help I would be very thankful for.Bobby

It would really help if you list what equipment you have. Im going to take a shot at it and see if if it helps. First from your stereo you will run the rca to your amplifier. From there the outputs of your amplifier are going to go into your crossovers inputs. this is almost always done using speaker wire. your crossover will then separate the signal into hi-mid-woofer depending on what equipment you have. Again this is almost always done using speaker wire.
My system
My stereo is the DEH-X9600BHS PIONEER,This goes to my GM-D8604 Pioneer amp.The amp goes to my Passive crossovers. This is where my question comes in.My amp has RCA outputs and my crossovers have the screw clamps for the input for my amp.My speakers and crossover kit came with 2 RCA cables. There is RCA plugs on one end.( the end that goes to my amps RCA outputs, and the end that go to the crossovers amp inputs have cut and stripped wires instead of RCA plugs like the other end has.So with the 2 wires on one plug is red and a ground wire.the other side of the rca wire is white and a ground wire.My question is this,Do I twist the red and white wires together and the 2 ground wires together so I end up with 1 red and white hot wire a the 2 bare gronnds twisted together as 1 ground wire. Then wire these 2 wires to the plus and minus to my crossovers amp in?????
😕

The passive crossover connects to the speaker terminals (not the RCA jacks) of the amplifier with speaker wire, not preamp level cable/wire.
Well,Like I said I don't know much about it,and I probably didn't explain it very well.I understand what you are saying,but Im still confused about this.The Component speaker system I purchased is the Pioneer TS-D1320C.The kit has 1 1/8 inch soft dome tweeter, 5 1/4 inch Woofer,and 2 Crossovers.The crossovers have 3 connections.The first reading left to right,Amplifier - and +. Woofer - and + Tweeter - and +0db. and one last place with just one screw clamp that says Level Control + -3db. On the front of it,it says;
Pioneer
Passive Crossover Network.
But like I said,I really don't know much at all about this.My sound system is as follows.
Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS Head Unit
Pioneer GM-D8604 Class-FD,
Bridgeable 4 channel Power Amplifier
Pioneer Class D, 1 channel,Mono Amplifier.
Pioneer TS-SWX2502, 10inch Sealed Enclosure TYPE Subwoofer,(1200 watt max).(Nominal 300watt).
My GM-D8604 amp is connected to my 2 front kick panel speakers, and the 2 boxed 6x9 inch speakers in the back. And this is where I must be wrong in my thinking.I was going to run my mono amp to my crossover at the amp connection, and connect my 10 inch sub to the sub connection, and my 1 1/8 inch tweeter to the tweeter connection. If I understand you correctly,I need to connect my 4 channel to my crossovers and not my subwoofer amp,Correct?

My suggestions:
Use 3 pairs of RCAs to connect the head unit to the amps. The front and rear will go to the 4-channel amp. The sub output from the head unit will go to the mono amp.
I'm assuming that the boxed speakers are in the rear so you'd connect them to the channels of the 4-ch amp that is fed by the rear full range outputs of the head unit. The crossovers for the component speakers would be connected to the channels of the 4-ch amp fed by the front RCAs from the head unit. I don't know if you are going to keep the kick panel speakers. If so, they would be connected to the same channels of the 4-ch amp as the crossover.
You need to use speaker wire to make all connections to the crossover. I'd recommend 16g wire. You don't need anything fancy. 16g parallel lamp cord will work as well as anything else for this application.

That answered my question perfectly,And I do thank-you so much, and I'm very very sorry for being such a dumb--- about my own sound system. I thank-you very much for your patience with all my questions and even more questions. Have a great afternoon,
Sincerely,Bobby
