Help with Kenwood M2A

I just got a hold of a Kenwood M2A amp, hoping to fix it. When the unit turns on the power LED flashes (speaker protection circuit?)

Everything inside looks clean except for 1 patch which controls the front panel meters. Any help on where to start much appreciated! Thank you.

The last one I looked at had blown outputs (expensive).

First thing I would do is give that unit a thorough wash and clean... internally it would come up like new... I hope the case work is unmarked 🙂 It looks to have had a hard life tbh.

As to fixing, get yourself a manual (HiFi engine ?) and check the basics. Rails, DC offset and the quiescent current of the output stage.

What kind of output transistors does it use? Five legged? Are they PNP-NPN in a single package?

Any updates here? I'm curious, because I'm trying to resurrect one of these. I bought it DOA for a song.
