Hi everyone. I got a nice deal on some speaker boxes.
For a around 15$ i got two nice beefy speaker boxes with a nice paint job and woodwork. Anyway boxes are 24 cm wide by 50 cm high and 39 cm deep and have 14.7 cm cutout for woofer ( i think it is for 6.5") and 8 cm for tweeter and 9 cm hole for flared bass reflex tube...
They are made of 18mm MDF with a decent amount of bracing and feel super solid like a solid block of concrete lol. I think that volume is around 1 ft3 or around 30l. Calculations are not 100% accurate they are just approximated.
The first driver I was thinking of was a visaton w 170 s but I don't know how it would work in 2 way... And I want a hi fi sound but this visaton driver seems like it is more aimed towards low bass rather than quality bass
Second one I looked at is really expensive one compared to visaton but it also seems like it would fit in 1 ft3 enclosure. It is a tang band w6-1721. It seems nice but that is a lot of money to waste if it doesn't work out.
I was also looking at Dayton audio drivers but they require much smaller enclosure.
I want nice warm and punchy bass and mid-range rather then muddy low bass. Sorry for the wall of text and thanks in advance.
Here is a video of one of the boxes...

See if you have access to SB Acoustic drivers. Many of their 6.5" drivers look like they would work out well in about 28-30L vented. If you are on a budget, the SB 16PFC25-8 might be a particularly good choice.
Know how to use a router btw? Because you'll get better results if the drivers are countersunk so that they sit flush with the face of the baffle instead of sitting up on top of it. Not absolutely necessary but it does help.

Thanks i will check later if they are available in Europe...
I don't have a router now but will maybe get one. I am not going to build these speakers right now i just want to plan out everything for now so i can approximate the price and have a plan. Maybe I will have router by the time I build them...

Estimated internal volume about 40 litres.
Alpair 12pw would work in that size box. Cutpout might not be right thou with their big bezels.

Sb acoustics is available on soundimports
Buying a SB Acoustics SB16PFC25-8 woofer? - SoundImports
But it says 6 inch ? Would it fit in 147mm cutout?

Alpair seems nice but i don't think it would fit the cutout. Also it is on the expensive side. I am still not sure how much money I will spend on them... Thanks anyways.
There are lots of decen tmidbasses out there, you will need to figure out what you can get and then start playing with a simulator until you find something tat fits the box.
CHN-110 is cheaper but your cutout is too large. (for this driver you want 133 mm cutout).
I’ve still to research the zillion midWofers out there. The other 2 available i like & have used are even smaller.

umm , Dave for box with internal dimensions of 20.4cm x 46.4cm x 35.4cm, I get a net volume of 33.5L which is pretty much in the ballpark of what the OP suggested.
The driver cutout necessary for that driver is 144.5mm. When you are researching drivers, look for the data or specification sheet. It'll usually have a drawing of the driver with physical measurements included.
As for whether or not the driver is suitable for your cabinets, you need to model the driver in a box simulation program like Unibox (requires Excel) or WinISD to figure that out.

If i use those numbers i get 33.5 too.
Shouldn’t 50 less 1.6 be 48.4 not 46.4? And 39 less 1.6 = 37.4
Using those numbers i get 37 litres so i must have slipped up on the 1st calc.

Sides are 1.8cm and there are 2 of each of them. so subtract 3.6cm from each external dimension.

I haven’t seen that info.
And i’ll ask the OP why not post pics instaed of lining to a much less useful video?
I assumed 18m (Europe) material all round. Th ebracing will use up a bit of volume.
dave
Keep in mind that bracing, port and the driver itself will take up some internal space.
I will do more research on drivers that could fit. If anyone has any suggestions I am always open to suggestions.
Also what tweeter would go with SB Acoustics SB16PFC25 And how would Sb acoustics sompare to visaton w 170 if at all and what tweeter would be suitable for it (if any)
Thanks.

Yes, i can post some pictures tomorrow if you want.
Try this:
Loudspeaker shop | Omnes Audio LoCo 6.1 | DIY
It is way cheaper than anything else, measures superbly and price is really fair. Mounting hole is 14,2cm
I'll post few measurements today.

Here it is:

Niklas Baur (CEO of OmnesAudio and BPA) probably got hold of some woofers used by Swiss firm Piega in their Classic 3.0/5.0/7.0 speakers.

I have had LoCo6.1 in my hands and it is exactly the same. It measures great and distortion is low even at 95dB/1m. Paper cone. I think that there is no way to get something nearly as good as LoCo for 2 times the money.
Good luck.

Not available over here. But we have the Silver Flute W14 (not at all suitable to your box).

Hmm it looks interesting really for that price it would be worth a try. Alsop do you know what tweeter would be suitable for it.
Thank you. I will definitely keep that woofer in mind as a good budget solution.
Cheap but good measuring option is:
Loudspeaker shop | Omnes Audio T25 H Tweeter | DIY
Measured here:
Hifi-Selbstbau - Omnes Audio T25H
They are used together in this kit

It might be a bit heretical but i would choose something like the Alpair 5.2/3 as the tweeter (midTweeter) and move the XO really low (300-400 Hz) and make a WAW.
Alpair 5 full range driver | KJF Audio
(note, the colours are actually silver or copper)
Run a 4” (100mm) piece of PVC pipe to (or out of) the back of the box.
