I am repairing a couple hifonics warrior series amps to put in my new system and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with them and if there a good enough amp for a mid/high and midbass amp . I have heard they were cheap back in the day . I have a falcon and a hawk series. I am torn between these or a special edition a4100 basically same as a ppi 4200am that i have here as well finished and working great. I am running a jbl ms-8 so i wont need crossovers . Appreciate your time thanks Dave

Hifonics lower series amps. Nothing really bad about them, just not a main line product from Hifonics back then everybody sold lower level amp lines. In fact not even built BY hifonics as ZED built most of their stuff for them in the first 10 series lines they sold... I fixed a few, nothing special or hard about them as I recall. Always look at diff input pair for high DC offset. They take a beating from being over driven mostly, as most amps do.....

Yea after being inside it it really doesnt look like a very beefy amplifier. I really would like a different amplifier to try other than always messing with the ppi amps.
What would be a really small good sounding amp from the 90s that i could use for a midbass and also mids and highs that would be any better than the ppi stuff or should i just keep running PPi .for subwoofer powering I thought about going back to the mtx thunder amps I had as a kid i remember the thunder 280 i owned ran a lanzar pro 15" really well and it was small amplifier.I am putting them all in a toyota supra and trying to hide them under a panel in the back next to a fiberglass subwoofer enclosure in the wheel well and dont have alot of room to get 3 amps back there . again thanks for your time...

Zapco made some nice sounding amps with a small footprint like the studio series or z100c2 or z150c2. Mostly 2 channel but a couple of 4 channels were available. Another zed made amp is the Alphasonik/ U.S.Acoustics USA series amps that were pretty compact.

ok thanks I will look into the z series. I remember the alphasonik and U.S Acoustics they were good as i remember back in the day as well. I just haven't had any pheonix golds before this zx250.v2 it seems like a little powerhouse just I really thought the heatsink design is silly.

The alphasonik (old school) i got for repair had many issues...shorted windings on the transformer and filter coil not to mention s pita to disassemble. Some of the old school zapco mentioned above had leaky caps that ate up the tiny traces near by or underneath the caps.
