Anyone built and loudspeaker cabinets that use Acuton high end drivers.
I'm interested in purchasing high end drivers from passive radiators, mid rang units, bass.
What program could I use to do the calculations for the cabinets and crossovers.

Hi Nautilus,
Learning how to do this well takes time, and experience. Before you jump right into building your most expensive, dream speaker please plan to spend a long time to learn. Usually by the time you learn enough, your choices about what speaker you want to make are entirely different than when you began!
Otherwise, you are MUCH better off finding a kit that has already been designed for you.
Pleas search the forum, you'll find lots of threads already about Acuton drivers.
You can learn a little about crossover design from my blog posts and the LM-1 project, which starts here:
https://speakermakersjourney.blogspot.com/2016/02/the-lm-1-bookshelf-version.html
and a little more basic stuff about crossovers here:
https://speakermakersjourney.blogspot.com/2016/02/crossover-basics.html
Finally, places online to search for kits are: Meniscus, Zaph, Madisound and Parts-Express, among others.
Otherwise, you should start with designing something simple, like an inexpensive 2-way system.
Best of luck,
Erik

That is a nice set of drivers, but wow, those crossovers are complicated. Was there an attempt to completely flatten the impedance curve or something?

I think I read somewhere later about attempts to flatten the impedance. Not that it's any guide, but that is a lot of parts! 🙂 Also interesting mix. Scanspeak/acuton/faital. Not something I would attempt before listening to each.

Many thanks for the advice.
I will have to learn the basics before setting my heart on the drivers of possible choice. I already own some full range Ruark Excalibur loud speaker that were & are very good.
Life is to short to learn about speaker r&d. I will have to get a so called expert to make what I want.
I want the best drivers and crossovers & cabinets I can get. Price isn't really a problem for a diy speaker to be build by a cnc shop and I would like to hire someone to design the cross over.

Hi Nautilus,
I highly recommend Taylor Speakers for cabinet work. Lee is a great guy, experienced speaker builder and has very good prices for the high quality of the cabinetry he provides.
Taylor speakers
Pretty much any kit you find he can build speakers for. Another great site is http://troelsgravesen.dk/
You'll find a number of very high end kits there.

I have played around with accuton midrange original filter and come up with a comparable response using fewer parts. The blue line represents a modification.
edit: Dave, Excalibur is a magnificient piece of speakers.

Evil Twin said:~with the Duelund transfer function, the exact slope must be managed down to - 20dB or better for good results, and this requires much more "management" of the transfer function over a wide range, than a conventional midrange band pass - if one had a driver with ideal response from 100Hz to 10kHz or higher, than a simple LR2 band pass would roughly suffice, but with real world drivers, this isn't possible.
OH, he's attempting THAT crossover design.... hahahaha, now the part counts make sense, if not necessarily the contortions. 🙂
Thanks for the follow up.

Although, having built his Jenzen NEXT, I am still struggling to get them sounding right. I came from using an active crossover previously, and find the passive difficult to love.Another great site is DIY Loudspeaker Projects Troels Gravesen

Would there be advantages in lead lining Speaker cabinets.
I did here that placing white speaker acoustic material within the cabinet gives the box volume. Is this true & for what reasons.
