I'm curious, how many Yaqins have been converted into a LesBox?
Add yours to the total.

Hi,
Good. As for the rest of them, why not drop Les a line?
Cheers, 😉

Although Les has converted many of these units personally,
I'm sure numerous units have been converted by others as well.

Also should place question that, who did mod? It is some how thought difficult, but instructions are good, thanks to Les. Who can solder and read can do it...
I have MS-23LB. I did mod myself.

There are a lot more I hear about on the Yaqin Facebook page and Les is getting new units to modify all the time. We should ask him how many he's done so far. At least that way, we are sure to be half right. 🙂

I only bothered to count after I had already done a few, but the recorded tally stands at 21.
Some of have been sold on 😱
I think the owners upgraded to MC though the design was originally made to handle MC using Transformers and some have done this and are most happy.
It never started out to be the ultimate phono amp, it was purely meant to try to make something resembling a silk purse from a sows ear which I think it achieves.
It certainly keeps me playing Vinyl while the CD collection gathers dust 😉

Thanks Les. I have another question for the posters on this thread. What phono preamp were you using before the LesBox?
For me, it was an ART USB Phono Plus which I think is a very good preamp for the money.

I was using a Bryston 1b then converted my MS-22b. I also had a Musical Paradise MP-P1 with 12AX7 Tele's (Smooth Plate) and directly compared it to the Les Box. I've sold them all except for the Les Box and I've never been happier. 🙂
Now that winter time approaches perhaps you can have a go at making an outboard Les Box. WHY? Because taking the circuit away from the power transformer gets rid of the last tiny bit of hum. You can build a separate power supply or use your MS22 or 23 as a power supply only? I tried it and it works very well though the Yaqin looks strange with the Blue light glowing but no tubes in it 🙂
I have tried to make the task of building a remote Les Box as easily as I can, the removal of the last vestige of hum will particularly benefit those using MC's and SUT's.
Everything is built onto the lid of a Hammond die cast box, giving easy access for construction.

Just look at the figures shown alongside the RIAA plot - It really does sound super!
