How to improve DCM KX10 series 2

Easy.

Drop the highpass filter for the midrange by taking out that giant cap and put a subenclosure behind it, say, a coffee can, mop bucket or large round steel cooking bowl, something that is a few liters. Get a plate subwoofer amp that goes up to at least 120 hz and wire it to what was the woofer. Block one port to lower the tuning frequency. Tune sub amp to the rolloff of the midbass driver.

VOILA!! Amazing bass from the DCM "big" speakers for under $ 100.

I did this before the internet days when I was much younger and it was amazing. Easily bass down to the mid 20s. Nice to repurpose a large midrange like that-- especially when it is most likely the same driver used down into the 30s in the DCM CX27 and Time Frame 600.

Wayne,

For start try plugging the port with some kind of cloth,
if the box is ported at all. In case it doesn't help enough,
remove the bass driver and check whether there is any and
how much of stuffing fibers inside. If it's not too much
trouble, take a photo of the inside.
