Hello! Would someone please help this newbie find info on the InFocus 2600 LCD Panel? I purchased one off eBay, but only the panel, and need to know what cables/power supply I need to hook this baby up.
I did do a search, but only found pin out info. Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!

I just bought an Infocus Panelbook 750 off ebay and it has some information with it in a brochure about the 2600. I think I've got the pinouts in the manual for the Panelbook and I can post them, maybe they are the same as the 2600 because its from the same era. You know its a passive matrix display too don't you?
David,
Thank you! Any info would be of great help. I should have known to ask if it was passive before I bought it, but I was focusing more on the idea that if I didn't have to spend too much setting up my first projector attempt, then all the better, as I'm using it as a learning tool as well as for entertainment (using the ideas of Kevin Wyatt's project [www.geocities.com/zark5150/projector.html] as a guide).
Besides, if I can get any decent quality at all out of it, it'll surely impress my kids to have a movie screened at home!!

Hi Bickell,
I'll post the details and pinouts for the power supply I have tommorow (assuming I have them as I think I do), they are not to hand right now.
Sounds like you got a decent deal actually if thats all you paid for it. I got majorly ripped off with mine (was my own fault), I made the mistake of thinking that because the Infocus Panel Book 550 has an active matrix with 16 million colours then the Panel Book 750 must be better, but its infact far worse. Also a DIY Projector website said my panel had S-Video connections but it was wrong, oh well. I wont make the mistake of trusting model numbers again or dodgy websites again 🙂
Also FYI, the 750 and the 2600 have about 14,000 colours and I think they are both 1024 x 700ish resolution. SO will be good for displaying stills/digital photos etc, and maybe the odd video, but not fast action.

Oops, I misread your original post, you HAVE the pinout information but not the details of the powersupply. I went to get the pinout information but I only found the pinouts for the VGA cable, I didn't write down the other PSU details
All I can remember is that its 12V Switching power supply, I'll get the other details when I'm next there.
Also the Infocus brochure says about your panel 'Project 24,389 vibrant colours for superb photo-realistic charts and graphs... advanced TSTN technology, the 2600 gives the ability to project computer graphics or digitised video'.

Thanks David, I appreciate your efforts. I'm feeling much better about my purchase already! Would old black and white videos play better than colour, or is it all based on the digitation (is that a word?) process?
I think the main issue with the display for playing videos will be the response time. Things moving on screen will leave ghost afterimage trails like motion blur effects. Think of the effect you get on CMOS webcams - if you wave your hand infront of them it will just disappear into a blur because the different pixels cant update their colour fast enough to keep up with the moving image. Infocus do say that the panel will display 'Digitised video' though so its probably watchable for scenes with slow or limited movement.
My panel uses exactly the same display type as yours but I havent get a OHP to test it with, looking thru the panel with a torch I can see moving video but I can't really tell how bad the movement blur is.

Wow...24k colors. So it's up there with the 7xxx panels in color depth. Good to know for the future.
Hi,
Heres the info on the powersupply for the Panelbook 750, which may or may not be the same as your panel.

Input: AC 100V-240V 50/60Hz 1.0A
Output: 12.0V 2.75A

I get the same display last week but I didnt have time to test it yet.
I also send an email to Infocus Contact Support asking some details about the LCD, so now I can add to what I see here the following info:
Response Time: 230ms (aprox)
Contrast Ratio: 25:1
If I supose a 20fps video, each frame would be taking 1/20ms (50ms), so 230ms seems to be too high.

I've now tested mine on an OHP. Its close to useless for video and gave me a headache watching the mega slow refresh, just like a bad webcam.
I test it using just a common 75W lamp in a dark room (no projector yet), but I wasn't able to distiguish any bad thing watching a movie. I tried to pay special attention to quick changes but I wasn't able to see any delay or blur or whatever.
I will try to get a projector in the following days to see how it behaves.

Well.....bad results finally. I test my panel on an overhead projector.
First of all I notice that the image was like washed, I don´t know if it natural in this panel or it is because its age (seems to have years of use).
While doing video projection it performs better than I expected with its poor response time of 230ms. I works fine with low motion image, but not with fast changes. I try to see a soccer game on it and was almost imposible to distinguish what was happening in the close ups.....I am expressing myself right?? or do I have to practice my english a bit more? or a bit bit bit more?
Finally I sold the panel, and the person who bought it tells me it was fine for him. He says hi also has the washed image effect, but he says he has no problem with video playing. 😕
Bye Bye
