Most of my test gear is HP/Agilent/Keysight. Is there a lower cost alternative to the Keysight Technologies 33210A Function Generator ? First hand experience please.
Thanks
Dave
Thanks
Dave
I use the DG1022 every days at home at my job, these are very good instruments.
I bought other Rigol instruments(oscilloscope, bench multimeter,PSU..) and i am very happy with.
Many others DIYers here could be also advise you that Rigol devices are good.
Regards.

Possibly this is a matter of taste, but modern and even economic function generators them have nice and large TFT display.

I can easily afford the Keysight but intuitively it seems too costly for the amount of work I have for it. I really love my DSO-X 2004 and it has earned its money.
I have previously bought (not Rigol) a Chinese LCR bridge and a scope, both had to go. My Chinese PSU is excellent though, but my Japanese Kenwoods are better.
That is why I'm asking for first hand experience only even though the TFG-3620E looks good.
Frex, will the DG1022 will store frequency and level in memories and can these memories be simply "scrolled" through ?
Thanks Dave

Personally I do not discriminate products according their origin, but definable when invited several Chinese companies to send samples and RIGOL was included, they hesitated or afraid to do so.
Nowadays I am dealing only with brands /factories, which them they do feel good about their products, and also they do have the confidence, that their products them are truly tested by their R&D team, and them it is impossible to not satisfy an end user when this product operates inside the specifications range.
Naturally you need a Fresh qualifying Oscilloscope with FFT, so you to judge how clean a function generator this can be regarding jitter noise.
And I do have one that I do trust it by 99%.

In a strange twist of events, I bought a $2,800 33220A on eBay for just $590 (£400) which according to the serial/firmware number is post 2009. It should be with me next week, lets hope it's OK !
33220A - KEYSIGHT TECHNOLOGIES - WAVEFORM GENERATOR, ARB/FUNCTION, 20MHZ | Newark element14
Frex thank you for your input, if this hadn't come up on eBay it would have been the DG1022

No problem Dave, the Keysight seem to be also a very good generator also.
Nevertheless, at 2800$ and according to it's specs (nearly same as the DG1022) the
unit is really overpriced.
(Note also that the DG1022A have 2 separate outputs that is very useful and the Keysight have only one).

Yes, way overpriced, but I have a penchant/addiction for HP/Agilent/Keysight Click here
It was a close race, if the seller hadn't accepted my offer of £400 on a buy it now of £600 it would have been the DG1022A !

I have lost my chance to become addicted when they started baptizing any multimeter out of warranty as throwaway technology not worth repairing.
Agilent 3320A arrives !
It's here and perfect, at just 22% of the cost of a new one, not that I would have bought this model !

your 1st mistake picking Agilent over Fluke when it comes to DMMs
besides that everybody knows Tek for O-scopes & HP/Agilent for frequency sources and analyzers. doing otherwise one takes more risks
in otherwords dont cheap out when it comes to Pro tools
Agilent/Keysight this did not have past in the market of Handheld DMM, at 2010 did their start, and they did disappoint any one trusted them due their own actions.your 1st mistake picking Agilent over Fluke when it comes to DMMs

This slogan is no more, it was standing at 90s, today if you are lucky? Your frequency source this will be an Made in Taiwan, and your Oscilloscope too.
