Hello
How would you go about isolating a couch, that has a bass shaker mounted to it, as much as possible but in a reasonable fashion.
I was thinking some cld layers of wood/green glue on top of underlay, (foam rubber, sorbothane?) (would love to use sorbothane but seems exotic to me) Does green glue even work when you have too much weight on it?
Thanks for any ideas

When I was renovating my bathroom I made some Pucks out of 100% pure silicone and place them underneath the feet of my jacuzzi tub. it really isolated the sound of the motor coming through into the lower floor
After doing some research and learning how to use the calculator for sorbothane offered on their website. I think I will try using sorbothane products offered by isolate it! on Amazon.
More like the rubber feet used on speakers etc. I'd probably stack up a few to get a couple of inches of rubber.
I guess, since it'd be a spring-mass system, you could add more feet and change the resonant frequency.

yup. rubber under couch feet.
A bit thick, but you are right, an air bladder (like turntable isolation) would work sweet !!!
If you are rich, you can these from partsexpress for $15 each.
ButtKicker RDB-220 Riser Stage and Raised Floor Kinetic Isolator 220 lbs.
I had less than stellar reslts with 4 of the hockey puck sized ones bolted to the couch but it was directly on a concrete floor.
It could have been way more fun for $100 if I knew what I know now.

Yes, I now see that the amount of sorbothane I would need for this application would be quite pricey.
Problem with rubber, is I just don't know where to get it. If I can get my hands on it then I can probably cut it with the laser at school. Also with sorbothane it is a really exact calculation to get proper isolation vs resonance. Same thing with rubber?

Rubber varies, so probably will require some experimentation to get the ideal thickness.Problem with rubber, is I just don't know where to get it. There is an unlimited supply of rubber in the form of used tires, available for free from tire shops or pieces of recaps littering any highway. It will probably stink cutting with a laser...
Weebles
Not cheap but I mounted subwoofers on 4 of these
McMaster-Carr
They made 100 lb. subs seem like Weebles (wobble but don't fall down).
The ones I had were red Silicone rubber, but same dimensions and durometer.
Of course mine were free.

lol! That's brilliant Cal. Works great until you have a little misunderstanding and they decide to walk away. 😛
