Does anybody have any experience of this arm?
Is it any good compared to decent 9" arms like Linn Akito or Ortofon AS-250 etc.?
I'm going to modify a Lenco/Goldring L75 with solid plinth and (without having checked compatibility on vinylengine yet) a cart of either Denon DL-103R, DL-301mk2 or Audio Technica AT33PTG/II.

All input are much appreciated.
Cheers

The Jelco is a good tonearm

I have experience with the Jelco SA-750E arm (10 inch) not the 750L. I have used the Denon DL-103, DL-301mk2, and the Audio Technica AT33PTG/II on the 750E. I add extra mass at the headshell in all cases to get the best sound (using the ortofon LH-2000 or LH-4000 headshells). I use the damping feature, and a periphery ring to remove warp effects. The SA-750E is a great tonearm. I also have an SME V and the Jelco can sound as good. The knob/lid on top of the pivot that controls damping is highly microphonic, and so needs treatment. I put damping fluid on the threads to accomplish this. The ortofon headshells are much better sounding than the Jelco headshell. The tonearm cable is also important, as is the phono preamp (possibly obvious, but we can't blame the tonearm for problems elsewhere).

Certainly adding mass for the AT33 case is not generally recommended, and going without added mass would be recommended, so your comment is appropriate. In my case I have a mechanically stable turntable with a periphery ring and the Jelco tonearm has damping, so I am quite comfortable with tonearm resonant frequencies around 7 Hz. It does improve the sound for me (cartridge position being more stable). It does break from conventional recommendations.

I have a Jelco 750L. Currently set up with a Ortofon Kontrapunt B on an Sp-10. It sounds very nice and musical with a deep base. It also works well with the Ortofon SPU.

I have an AT 33 but I have not used it on the Jelco. However I think the compliance is not that different compared to the Kontrapunkt, so it should also work well.

Clubman, you mention an Ortofon arm in your initial post. I do not recognise the model, but I think many of the current or recent Ortofon arms are actually manufactured by Jelco.

Thanks for all input, what concerns me is the high arm mass 26g compared with SME 3012 12" which according to vinyl Engine is 14g.
I have some concern as of how this mass is "configured" with or without headshell and as of how the headshell wieght should be put in to the calculatation for tonearm resonant frequencies?
The Ortofon AS-250 should have been Ortofon AS212 (w.o.w. S) my misstake!

Goudey, many thanks for your input, verry much appreciated. Since not much info were found on Vinyl Engine, I found the faulty info on a Polish site "http://www.muarah.pl/en/jelco/", how I ended up there is something I cant answer!
So when this sorted out, is there any recomendations for a matchin and good performing pickup in the price range of the Denon DL-301mk2?

That is the best question to be asking at this point. Cartridge preference is subjective, but for me personally the 301mk2 loses out to many cartridges in my collection. I (and most people I believe) would consider the Denon dl-S1 cartridge far superior to the 301mk2. I have two vintage cartridges that I consider to perform at a similar level to the dl-S1. The problem with vintage cartridge recommendations is that the soon after I post a good recommendation several people may quickly buy the cartridges currently available, and remaining supplies will go up in price. I will PM you with some recommendations.
