Well I had finally ran out of good heatsink clamps.
What are these spring clamps called? And where do I buy them?

If the amp is still in production JL will likely sell them to you through their distributors. If it's discontinued, my guess is that they will be available on ebay. PS: It might be helpful if you could post a photo of these in this thread as someone here may have some jl parts lying around.
rigtec, best to you
Um..... they are standard heatsink spring clamps. Its a 500/1.
Okay, it's a mono-block. HD, XD, and JD are still in production. J2, JX, and Slash v2 are all discontinued. Do these share the same platform/heatsinks(?); they look very different. Car Audio - Discontinued - Amplifiers
OKAY, I'VE SEEMED TO have lost the link, but iy has been posted several times on the site, so a search for fet or heat-sink clamps should turn something up. iirc, they are cheap and readily available from mouser and ebay.
I tried looking on digikey and ebay, and came up empty.
There was another thread here that listed they were available at qubase or something like that, and they no longer sell them either.
So i had to scrap out an SSL amplifier to steal its clamps.
This is a JL 500/1 not a V2 or anything newer.

I have looking for those unsuccessfully. If you get some please share the source.

Are they the same as the hifonics clamps?
Someone did post a link in a post one time on a source for those.
Try messaging blazer40 and see if he has any.

Perry gave me a link for them a while back...hopefully he posted it on the threads and not my pm.
I'll look for it, as I may have it in my drawer with the very few I have left (had to purchase a minimum of 50, but quickly got used when several amps came in with them missing. Should have purchased 100 instead of the minimum...lesson learned).

Check this one. Made by Aavid Thermalloy .

Now that I remember they where from Aavid and probably from Newark....but from what I remember they had a minimum order of 50 and they where MUCH CHEAPER than the 0.249 listed price.
IIRC they where .14 or less when order a min of 50.

that particular one isnt a good choice because there is no release hole, making removal totally impossible without breaking the hell out of the heatsink.
The replacement clips are disposable. To remove them, grab the bottom of the clip and bend it out. When it's bent far enough, it will fall out of the slot without damaging the sink.
The clips with the slot in them vary quite a bit. Replacements can be too tight, too loose or too thick to fit the slot without damage. The cheap replacements generally work in all of the slots. For wide transistors, you have to use two clips and have to check very carefully to confirm that the transistor is laying flat against the heatsink. The replacements are not as tight as the original clips. They work well on the TO-220 transistors but you have to check the larger transistor's mating to the sink.
