I have a pair of kef B110/T27 DIY-loudspeakers. I recently bought a pair of B139 to extend the existing 2-way to 3-way. (used the original filters till now).
Could someone give me advise about the following:
I've just almost desided to design a Closed Box;
Easy to calculate (I've not that much experience in building speakers)
Good performance in small rooms
less chance of 'boom-effect' than BR
1. For howfar is this true?
2. which Q-factor should I use?
3. Can I simply use the original KEF filter calculations?
4. Or does someone have a great new CB concept for such speakers?
thanks,
Erwin

Closed box will work fine. I like to target a Q of 0.58 as a compromise between best phase (0,5) and maxFlat (0.7).
If you can love with the size, the modern TL Scott & i did up gives tremendous performance. A friend and i are going to build his 4 B139 into a pair of the folded push-push woofers (wich will likely be stored here as he doesn't have the room for them 😀)

Ok. I also have to compromise between Q and cabinet size, because I already made the mid/high boxen last year. So a Q of 0,7 would give a much nicer cabinet volume. I know the amount of damping in TL changes the 'virtual' acoustic Q.Does this also apply to closed cabinets? Will a 70L closed box (instead of 115L) full of glasswool also give a higher Qtotal?
